02-05-06, 12:34 AM This page (third paragraph) states that you can join the RPGA by passing the Herald level GM test. That is not true at this time, I believe.

The fourth paragraph states that you have to pass the GM test to run living games. Is that to "sanction" games? You can still GM them if the Senior GM is a Herald-Level or better, right?

You do need to pass the Herald Level (GM) Test to run sanctioned RPGA events including Living games. i.e you must pass the test to GM.

The RPGA General Rules state that you do not have to be certified to judge events. You do have to be certified to be a Senior Judge. For home play, the session judge is the senior judge, and so must be certified. But, a session judge at a gameday or convention does not need to have passed the Herald per the RPGA General Rules.

The LGCS wording either conflicts with the RPGA General Rules, or it is ambiguous regarding the word "run."

Yes, it is true. That is how I joined the RPGA.

It is no longer an option. You must have a membership on file with RPGA now before you can take the test; you have to have the number before the test instead of as a result of the test. Things changed...maybe six months ago or so.

Or, it might have to do with the term "event". An "event" is a gathering (a convention, a game day, a home play gathering), and you do need to be a Herald-level GM to organize, and thus "run", such an event.

An individual adventure / module, in RPGA-speak, is a "scenario". You do not necessarily need to be a Herald-level GM to judge (a.k.a. "run") a scenario at an RPGA event.
