Although Polymorph works as Alternate Form does it has a specific line within its text...... The subject’s creature type and subtype (if any) change to match the new form. A Druid however that is Wildshaped would not gain this benefit since this ability is not a Polymorph effect but an Alternate Form effect which states..... The creature retains the type and subtype of its original form. It gains the size of its new form. If the new form has the aquatic subtype, the creature gains that subtype as well.
Maesto 12-27-06, 08:14 AM	Note that you wouldn't get the size change though. I don't have the books at hand, so I can't tell if most of the bonuses come from the size change though. You would still get the bonus on the small bear form however.

solbergb 12-27-06, 01:39 PM	We do not use the WOTC wildshape eratta (see LGCS) So no, there is no "Alternate Form" anywhere in LG except for monsters. And he would get the size bonus if he's in black bear forms (which most of them are...brown bear doesn't come along till near retirement)

It would have been just as east for the circle to say that as of all cy 597 mods that they need to be written with this errata in mind. And therefore the players would have thru the end of cy 597 to get used to these changes.

And therefore the players would have thru the end of cy 597 to get used to these changes. You're right; that would have been just as easy. However, the Circle's solution is simply better than WotC's. The polymorph limitations that were already used in Living Greyhawk had effectively eliminated, or at least greatly reduced, the problem that the errata was intended to solve.

Would that not also mean that centaur druids that wildshape large can animal growth themselves to huge ????

A Centuar COULD do it, but not until 15th level, which would be when they get 5th level spells.

Though by 14 the centaur could wildshape large and have animal growth cast by a level 9 druid cohort I suppose :) The curious thing about LG centaurs is they can only wild shape smaller than themselves for most of their career and neither animal growth nor enlarge person works on them. They seem to have an inherent resistance to getting any bigger.
