Where a feat has a minimum prerequisite to select it (STR 13 for power attack, INT 13 for expertise etc) can a character using stat boost items (headband of INT and so on) qualify to take the feat when they level up if their native stat without the item is too low ?
Japangirl 12-05-06, 08:35 PM	The answer I've generally seen is yes, but if in an anti-magic field or other similar magic suppressing effect the feat cannot be used. I haven't seen a FAQ or otherwise Wizards ruling on it, but there might be one that I don't know about.

I haven't seen a FAQ or otherwise Wizards ruling on it, but there might be one that I don't know about. When I first read this I disagreed, but after checking the written rules I am forced to agree. On page 87 of PHB it states "Your character must have the indicated ability score", so any item that states it increases ability score (like all the ones I checked did) then it would count for your prereq. The next paragraph then states "A character can't use a feat if he or she has lost a prerequisite." Correct on both.
