Just wondering for the following examples, whether Extra Spell works? - Beguiler trying to learn Wizard Illusionist/Enchantment Spell - Beguiler trying to learn something else from Wizard/Soc spell list. The other important questions 2. Beguiler's spells from the PHB II, can they be opened specifically only for the beguiler? 3. If Beguiler's spells are open, kindly errata the Legions spell. (BAB of the phantom warriors? Dmg? What kind of damage is it considered for DR purposes e.g. magical, ghost-touched?) |
| wooti02-11-07, 09:18 PM | 1. No idea. 1a. A similar question if you take arcane disciple do you gain the domain spells automatically, or do they become availible for the advanced learning, or only those that are illision or enchantment become availible, or it a waste of a feat. 2. Brett has said that they are going to be (I was going to play beguiler without them, I just like the style) 3. If you look at page 97 it gives their damage and reach but says nothing about BAB. I suspect Wizards will bring out an errata. |

Just wanted a clear 'yes' or 'no'. :P *still working on how to make a beguiler viable in Perrenland where UD crawl all over* |

Just wanted a clear 'yes' or 'no'. :P *still working on how to make a beguiler viable in Perrenland where UD crawl all over* The FAQ says the following: Can the warmage (Complete Arcane) benefit from the Extra Spell feat? No. Extra Spell lets you add one spell to your list of spells known, but the spell must be taken from your class spell list. Since the warmage already knows all the spells on his class spell list, this feat has no effect. So, you're limited to whatever spells you get from Expanded Learning, or possibly the Arcane Disciple feat. Many of the spells on the beguiler list can be useful vs. undead in a battlefield control or party buffing role. The following spells are all potentially useful against undead (and some constructs): Obscuring mist, fog cloud, solid fog mage armor (vs. incorporeal undead) blinding color surge blur, displacement glitterdust invisibility, invisibility sphere, greater invisibility, mass invisibility mirror image, greater mirror image haste slow freedom of movement (vs. paralyzing undead such as ghouls etc.) repulsion Add to this the fact that beguilers have UMD as a class skill (allowing them to add a few wands or scrolls to help against their weak spots) and it's certainly possible for a beguiler to pull their weight against undead and constructs. I agree that they do have many of the same weaknesses as rogues. |
| jstorrie02-12-07, 02:57 PM | Mindless undead get pwned hard by illusions. Beguilers will wreck them. Intelligent undead may force you to fall back to buffing and UMD, but they give rogues problems, too. |
| Britt02-12-07, 02:59 PM | Undead are immune to mind-affecting, which many illusions are. |
| solbergb02-12-07, 03:01 PM | Mindless undead are pretty much owned by figments, which are not mind-affecting. |
| sibyl02-12-07, 03:46 PM | 2. Beguiler's spells from the PHB II, can they be opened specifically only for the beguiler? On the main LGCS draft discussion thread, Britt stated that the Beguiler spells from the PHBII would be Open for Beguiler's only. I have no comment on the other questions. |
