Beguiler would be cool, but... [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-09-07, 01:25 PM Where's their spell list? No where in the PHB2 do I see a full spell list for beguiler. And now that it's open...I wanna play one!

In the book, it says look at page 11...but there are no spells there. And I can't just use the PHB2 spells they get...even though they're good...cause they're not enough. :P Thank you for listening and giving me your consideration.

The Beguiler spell list is right on page 11, top right side...Takes up half the page, how can you miss it?

02-09-07, 01:48 PM There is in fact a Beguiler spell list right where it says there should be one. It's about the same size as the Warmage spell list, or slightly smaller.

Why? Most of the Beguiler spell list is right out of the PHB? ANd the class is quite clearly listed as open, unless something has changed since yesterday...

02-09-07, 02:25 PM Sorry, yeah, many of them are. However, for a class that has a very limited spell list, having some not accessible is a big hurt.

And what concerns me more is that the Beguiler doesnt get access to their PHB II spells at this time.

02-09-07, 02:27 PM This could be the most common misunderstanding I've heard about PHB2. The PHB2 has 2 spell listings for its caster base classes. The one in the back is only spells from the PHB2 - which are NONC (as Britt mentioned). The one that comes with the class description is the complete list. It has a number of PHB spells. So Begiler would be weaker but still able to cast spells - unless the LGCS opens their full spell list.

So maybe we're on the same page now? Or maybe I'm just as confused in this thread as everyone else... :confused:

02-10-07, 04:04 AM I imagine it will, since none of them are particularly complicated or broken, and there is the Warmage precedent. But even if it doesn't, it's only losing one or two spells per level, few of which you'd really want to cast that often.

Am I missing something here? I don't see anywhere that warmages get automatic access to usually-NONC spells, just that they do get their bonus Sudden feats even though those are usually NONC.

Please point it out to me if warmages do get automatic access to such spells (e.g. Mass Fireshield, which is on their spell list but NONC), as I don't see it anywhere in the LGCS.

Yep, so they get the feats, but not any of the NONC spells on their spell list, unless they actually get access. Correct? (The "at first level" exception was only relevant when we had the 3rd-level rule, it's defunct now.)
