The only way to create a character with a home region of Bright Lands is to play Blood on Bright Sands. In other words, this must be the first mod that PC plays.
pedr 06-19-06, 01:05 PM	Although if you're happy to take one of the fastplay characters then you can start them in any Blight on Bright Sands adventure and they have a home region of 'Bright Lands'. Unfortunately you're then limited by all the choices made in the creation of the fastplay characters (some of which aren't terribly effective as far as I've heard).

I believe you are (technically) wrong. You may have the Bright Lands as your home region: Which region your character calls home is up to you. You actually don’t have to assign your character to your default home region; you could live in Florida, but give your character a home region of Onnwal (or United Kingdom in the real world). However, you’ll find it much easier for your character if your character’s home region is the real world region in which you play the most (probably the one you live in.) But you may not use the character creation options in Sandstorm unless you have played Blood on the Bright Sands. The following guidelines grant expanded options for character creation for this adventure arc. To gain access to these special options, the character must fulfill the two following requirements. 1) The Character must have Bright Sands as its home region. 2) COR 5-06 Blood on the Bright Sands must be the first adventure you play with this character. The note about fast play characters is correct. -Swiftbrook
Iswald 06-19-06, 10:42 PM	A character that starts in the Bright Lands can change regions and return to the Bright Lands later. However, a normal character is unable to change their home region to the Bright Lands. Characters can choose the Bright Lands as their home region as part of the Blight on Bright Sands story arc. Some regions are not available as home regions. These are all quotes or paraphrased from the LGCS or Blood on Bright Sand doc.

Thanks! :) Nope, that's why they're called fast play characters instead of customized (full play) characters. You just pick them up and run with them. John

CSHunt68 06-20-06, 09:40 AM	Actually, yes, you can use the fastplay options to start a Bright Lands character in any of the mods in that sequence, though not any others. However, your note from the LGCS is misleading, Swiftbrook. Characters may NOT have any _Core_ region (which includes Bright Lands) as their home region. The exception was made for Bright Lands, for use during the character creation (and fastplay character use, evidently) during the run of that sequence. It is NOT generally available. To quote from the LGCS, p. 6, "Some areas of Oerth are not available as home regions for any character." Regards, SH

Other than TWO odd stats and the crappy Toughness feat, the fastplay sorceress is pretty good. Follow up her Draconic Heritage (Brass) with Draconic Power (+1 caster level) and Empower Spell for some [Fire] spell goodness. Her Sunstroke spell is pretty good for a sorcerer. She can summon a horned lizard familiar for some wonderful cheese: the horned lizard can do its blood squirt thing as a free action, 1/round, forcing a Will save DC 11 to all foes or they're Shaken. This imposes a -2 penalty on saving throws and this fear effect is cumulative with other fear effects, so Cause Fear can actually work pretty well (since it causes an opponent to be Shaken even if he makes his Will save).
