Unless there is an alternate class feature/racial sub level that I am not aware of there are no other options for a wizard to pick in place of Scribe Scroll. If there was such a rules option that replaced Scribe Scroll then a wizard could absolutely retrain it into that other rules option.

darrell_uk 08-03-07, 12:06 PM	No, you can't. It wasn't a choice that the character was allowed to make at that level, it was something you were given. i.e. It wasn't have x or y, it was have x.

Or, more accurately, at my first wizard level? It is a bonus feat, yes...but unlike Fighter bonus feats, you don't have any options to choose something else at Wizard level 1. That's the catch. Retraining can only change a rules item into a rules item that could have been selected instead. There's no such thing for a Wizard's Scribe Scroll feat.

You can retrain Wizard/Fighter/Monk/etc. bonus feats, but only if you have another legal choice for that feat. A Monk can retrain his Combat Reflexes to Fiery Fist or Deflect Arrows, but he can't retrain his Improved Unarmed Strike to something else, since that wasn't a choice he made.
KarmaInferno 08-05-07, 04:38 PM	If it help, think of these "bonus feats" as only being fillable with the specific choices listed. Fighter Bonus feats can only be filled with feats from the Fighter Bonus Feat list. The Monk 2nd level bonus feat can only be filled with either Combat Reflexes, Deflect Arrows, or Fiery Fists. The Wizard 1st level bonus feat can only be filled with Scribe Scroll. There are no other choices listed. -karma
