| Saracen04-10-06, 05:28 PM | To the Circle, When a favor on an AR gives access to any limited spell, which sources in the campaign are legal? I contend that the list provided on pg. 25 of the LGCS 596CY is the one a player must use for such a favor. Others contend any book used by the campaign (players and authors) is fair game. We know that ARs in the future will specify which spells and sources can be used but we still have legacy ARs that have open ended access. Thanks, Bryan Blumklotz AKA Saracenus Duchy of Urnst |
| Madfox1104-11-06, 03:08 AM | You will need to ask the Triad who provided the AR. Personally I favored changing the ARs through official errata and that is what I asked my Triads to do (note that it had been handed out only once). Pieter Sleijpen Circle Member Splintered Suns |
| TimRat04-11-06, 03:39 PM | in my region (VTF) you use what the limited spells of the LGCS are and thats it. sorry i haven't been on lately but personal stuff has come up and i'm sicker than a dog right now. |
| kang_kodos04-11-06, 04:42 PM | Hey, Tim, you know there are not any Limited spells listed in the LGCS anymore... The assumption is that if it's not listed in the LGCS as Core, Restricted or NPC Only, then it is Limited, which is what brought up this question. Ed P. |

Tim, Sorry to hear that you are sick. As Ed stated before me, we no longer explicitly list Limited Spells. If a spell does not fall in Core, NPC, or Restricted it is by definition Limited. Thus, source material becomes very important. If someone has a favor granting access to any limited spell what constitutes a vaild source for Limited Spells? By your definition any spell from any WotC source is vaild, including Forgotten Realms and Ebberon material. What about Oriental Adventures? The question that brought this all up dealt with Book of Exalted Deeds. Bryan Blumklotz AKA Saracenus Duchy of Urnst |
| pedr04-11-06, 05:58 PM | I think Tim means that (in VTF) you can access limited items from books on the list on page 25 of the LGCS. Of course this might vary from region to region. Reading between the lines of a recent announcement on the Onnwal list and what Pieter (madfox) said upthread, I think in the Splintered Suns we've had certs like that errataed. Now other metaregions might have far more favours in those terms than we did and will require clarification (/change) by the triads/circle reps. |

I think the Circle would review case by case for an item or spell access from a book that's not in one of the books on page 25. The list on page 62 of the LGCS says that "Material from these sources may have limited availiblity" that list includes the Book of Vile Darkness and Book of Exalted Deeds. But generally the list on page 62 is for Triads and authors. I'd error on the side of caution and use the Spell Compendium, a bunch of spells from the Manual of the Planes and Libris Mortis were reprinted in there...just my 2 coppers... Mike |
| Madfox1104-13-06, 04:17 AM | The original poster was asking about favors that gave access to a free choice of spells from the limited list, not about what authors decide to put on their AR. The last is definitely something that is discussed between Triad and Circle, while the first is not allowed to be handed out as a reward anymore. |
