| TWG_Prometheus03-27-07, 09:15 AM | I was looking over the LGCS rulings on cohorts this morning and got a bit confused about why one would keep seperate ARs for them. They share access with their Leader, and although they could get gold and experience in the middle of a level, the same gold & Experience amounts are being constantly recalculated as the Leader gains levels. They can't get closer than their ECL + 2 to their Leader or they abandon them either. I guess it would help them replenish consumables between the Leader's levels, but otherwise I just don't get it. Sounds like a lot of bookwork for minimal return to me. I guess it also gets them one-time favors that they couldn't have without ARs. Am I just not thinking about something else important? |

Favors, disfavors, curses, blessings, things that they only got, etc. The only access that is explicitly said in the LGCS for cohorts is "item" access. Nothing said about feat access, spell access, class access, or other things that pop-up. Helps make your cohort unique and closer to an actual pc than a glorified follower IMO. |

Mithral Breastplate, +1 ciao martin m. |

Hello, you seem to be of a strong adventuring nature and I am very impressed by the epic tales of your many heroic deeds and seemingly impossible accomplishments. As such, I would love nothing more than to partake in your particular adventures and generally learn under in the glory of your shining example. If you would accept me as your cohort I would endeavor to do my utmost to rise to any standard that you might think me capable of. What say yea? Might I be allowed to accompany you as a cohort? |

Might I be allowed to accompany you as a cohort? :P, sorry, do you see the big, ugly - eh . . . - impressive dakon over there? the one who bends iron bars to prezels?? he might not like you for taking his place in my heart :P and at my side with his quest for killing every member of the scarlet brotherhood, especially the spellcasters ;). ok, at level 13 a lot of characters have even more and stranger items at their command, i never made it to one of the "special" specials where they handed out REALLY goodies to drool at (ok, and collected souls of dead characters in big crates as well). and my characters haven't picked up any of the special goodies from the other specials, my druid was short a split second of ending in the fountain that granted the shadow template in "dread spiral", he would have been there atop of his tiger anyway, hmm, a tiger with the shadowy subtype . the above is just to show that the momentary situation for cohorts is "sub optimal", a cohort does not only require a feat of the character but also sucks up a substantial amount of gp value from the leader - at least if it is a "fighting type", some can be used by the leader himself or be handed out to others but that is not always the case . anyways, at tables beyond APL 8 always ask for some "borrow and lend" proposals. ciao martin m. |

That's OK! I'm good at sharing. Japangirl taught me how! The Dakon and I? We're cool. We'll even share a bunk bed. Top bunk! |

Top bunk! yea, dakons always remind me to the very first star wars movie :P "That's 'cause droids don't pull people's arms out of their sockets when they lose. Wookiees are known to do that." :P ciao martin m. |

| haferka03-28-07, 12:00 AM | I have access to a satyr cohort (with pipes). which will become the party bard/marshal. I already have access to a magic flute that summons fey with a simple perform check.. the flute is far to expensive for the cohort... so I will be purchasing it with my main character. I just have to build the satyr with all the possible summoning augmentation possible. :) btw... if I ever play enophe to retire... the satyr will probably become a dirge singer. and I will use my acess to the dakon cohort to turn him into an undead minion. |
| cycloptic_squirrel03-28-07, 03:04 AM | Belt of Giant Strength +4 Belt of One Mighty Blow BTW, what's the deal with the belts? Two of them? |
| Lupo03-28-07, 08:52 AM | BTW, what's the deal with the belts? Two of them? my cleric crafted the giant strength belt lately and still hasn't found a reason to sell the other one for half gp value ;) i just keep it, sometimes you need a "magic item" as a bribe or bait for some nasty critters :). ciao martin m. |

For 1.5 k, I can see how it'd be useful to keep around, though I suppose at the level you're at you don't run into too many people with an open belt slot. ;) Yeah, if you'd just hang onto the gold anyway, this at least might see some use. Still drooling though. |
| Japangirl03-28-07, 04:50 PM | I know lots of people at high levels with open belt slots. Me, my ranger friend, my wizard friend, his cleric cohort, the mystic theurge friend. In fact, everyone I know who doesn't want a belt of strength has an open belt slot at the moment! |
