Cohorts and the Elite Array [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-22-07, 12:14 PM I've got a few questions before I "update" my cohort to having the elite array.

If I arraign his stats such that he could no longer cast cleric spells (wisdom below 10), could he take a different class instead? -OR- Am I forced to arraign his stats so that he can still cast spells and qualify to be a cleric?

If I assign the array such that he no longer qualifies for a feat (say Dodge or Power Attack), can I replace the feat freely with a feat the cohort has access to (and qualifies for)?

There's no requirement that a cleric must be able to cast spells. Merely that if they have a 10 Wisdom, they can cast spells.

02-22-07, 01:23 PM Tangentially, with cohort death and level loss from raise dead.

The last mod I played the GM got in a lucky crit with a full power attacking large scythe weilder taking my cohort from his full 98 hitpoints to -28 in a single blow (Damn double nat 20's). The raise dead was paid for. The cohort loses a level for dying. He was ECL 9. He'll now be ECL 8. Does he have to spend the rest of my PC's level now 3 levels behind the PC, or does he get re-adjusted back to ECL 9 immeadiately? There has been debate about the timing of cohort adjustment in my local LG group.

02-22-07, 08:35 PM He gets readjusted back next time you level, or next time he earns enough xp to level.

(the first case resets his xp to whatever your leadership score says it should be. The second case he earned it on the AR and can level because cohorts get to level from xp if they are still within leadership limits)

Which comes first depends on how much playtime the cohort gets and where you are in your level, but odds are, you'll level first. Half xp kind of puts a limit on cohort advancement.
