In LG can you cast continual flame on something other than a torch. For example my 5th level cleric would like to pay the 50gp material component and cast continual flame on an amulet.

Can this be done and if so how is it recorded on the AR?

Thanks.

LG does NOT allow magic effects to continue beyond the current mod.

If you disagree with this, as I have.. post that suggestion on the thread that is asking for input on the next LGCS. (as I have done).

I suggested that spells be recorded as if they were magical items (expendable or permanant)..

We have "curses" that last X turns from the mod completion.. why not spell effects?

No, do NOT post a repeated suggestion in the LGCS suggestion thread. Only post new ideas or suggestions in that thread.

My RSoP cast it on a ring at the start of part one of Red Hand of Doom. Expensive, but a good opportunity to show off the fact that is illuminates twice as far as everyone else's :)

Everburning Torches are core access and only 110 gp. Save yourself the work and hang one from your neck.

I always just paid for an everburning torch and roleplayed it as being whatever item I wanted.

One does, however, wonder why the legion of Radiant Servants don't go into business creating 40' everburning torches. I'm sure they could make a fortune :)

The coolest item I've seen recently was a heightened continuous flame torch, at level 4. It was marketed as "The Dispeller of Darkness", because it outdoes the darkness and deeper darkness spells (at lowest level), and will nullify the damning darkness effect of a shadow demon. Heck, I'd be prepared to pay a sizeable chunk of gold for a widened (or is it enlarged?) heightened everburning torch.

Cheers,

And there's that Core mod with an Everburning Lantern.

One of the year 5 specials also had what amounted to an everburning tabard (it glowed with the same amount of light as a continual flame spell; it could also be turned on and off)

My main owns a 40' radius everburning torch shaped like a miniature scimitar (symbol of Azor Alq iirc). It came from a VTF Special.

Using magic ostensibly to make money is sacrilige!!! Well, if its divine magic.

In year 1, my human cleric bought a certed continual flame gem. He mounted it as an amulet and wore it around his neck, keeping it under his shirt when not needed, then bringing it out at night or underground. In 3.5 it became an everburning torch, but I still played it as a glowing gem on an amulet around his neck. More recently he got one of those heightened everburning torch at 4th level. It was sold as a darkbanishing torch. However, he rarely uses either since he became a dungeon delver and gained darkvision. They still come in useful for the entire party from time to time, especially when the BBEG casts darkness on the group. He just pulls out his darkbanishing torch and the darkness effect is gone.

LOL

Just become an Asherati!!! The party never has to worry about a light source ever again!!

Which brings a question. What would a darkness spell do to an Asherati body lamp??

How do you know if your everburning torch was created by a divine or an arcane caster. It matters because an arcane continual flame is a 2nd level spell and a divine continual flame is a 3rd level spell. Thus a divine continual flame would over power a "Darkness" spell while an arcane one wouldn't.

Could I just say my everburning torch is Divine

You can tell by the cost.

Good point

I guess that means you can't buy a divine everburning torch in LG:weep:
