Courtblade = Greatsword? [Archive] - Wizards Community

Sword, Elven Courtblade:

A character with the Exotic Weapon Proficiency (elven courtblade) feat finds the weapon well suited for quick feints and thrusts. A character can use an elven courtblade in conjunction with the Weapon Finesse feat, applying her Dexterity bonus (if any) to melee attacks she makes with the weapon, though it remains a two-handed weapon and not a light weapon.

Characters proficient with the elven courtblade may treat it as a greatsword for the purpose of any of the following feats: Greater Weapon Focus, Greater Weapon Specialization, Improved Critical, Weapon Focus, and Weapon Specialization.

What's great about it with a Courtblade? The only tricks that apply are Exotic Sunder, Show Off, Stunning Blow, Throw Exotic Weapon and Trip Attack, none of which seem exceptional.

Whether it is a good dip or not is irrelevant to my joke :P, I'm mocking those folks who focus too heavily upon structural optimization...

05-04-07, 04:51 PM IIRC, the cool thing about the courtblade is the crit range and damage combination. Works nicely for Elven Fighters...not that I see many...but oo, new idea. Snow Elf Fighter utilizing the Elven Courtblade? DEAR GOD.

Just met someone from Highfolk during Weekend in the Shield Lands who is playing a CoCL wielding a Courtblade two handed. NICE! Talk about damage output and threat range.
