What does a PC need in order to craft a +2 longsword?

She needs the CA&A feat.

She needs to have CL6 (3 times the enhancement bonus of +2, DMG p. 221)

Now what? Purchase access only gives ability to craft from specified DMG tables, none of which include a generic +2 weapon. (LGCS, p. 54)

your character need to have seen ANY +2 weapon in the available items section of an AR. they are not to common but my characters have seen the one or the other. they were way more common under 3.0 ;)

why should anyone WANT a +2 weapon?? maybe with the exeption of crit and multiplyer monkeys normally one would prefer some cool enhancement. and even the crit and multiplyer monkeys can just ask their freindly party arkanist/cleric to cast a GMW.

If you have not seen a +2 weapon, you can still craft one when you get to 8th level (2 levels higher than the minmum).

The 2 level higher rule applies to CWI, Rod, Staff, and Ring. It doesn't apply to Arms and Armor. See LGCS p. 54.

That's the point Lupo. Craft Arms and Armor does not provide universal "see it ------> make it" crafting access. It only does so for DMG tables 7-5, 7-6, 7-14, and 7-15. Generic +2 weapon isn't on any of those tables.

For a power attacking character, straight pluses make sense. More damage, and more to-hit so you can power attack away more BAB for a lot more damage.

particularly on the garunteed straight damage mutliplying lance. +2 makes much more sense than +1 and flaming, for example.
