I decide to craft a Wand of Binding Winds (2nd level Druid Spell). Obviously it's Caster Level * Spell Level * 750gp. But since caster level has no real effect on the success or failure of Binding Winds, I theoretically could choose the lowest possible (3rd level), thus only costing a bse price of 4500. My biggest question is...what's the Save DC on using it? The minimum? Or my DC? |

My biggest question is...what's the Save DC on using it? The minimum? Or my DC? Sadly, your abilities make no difference. Magic items produce spells or spell-like effects. For a saving throw against a spell or spell-like effect from a magic item, the DC is 10 + the level of the spell or effect + the ability modifier of the minimum ability score needed to cast that level of spell. Staffs are an exception to the rule. Treat the saving throw as if the wielder cast the spell, including caster level and all modifiers to save DC. Staves are better for DCs...but you only get access to those one at a time. And they cost waaaay too much to be practical in LG. |
