| Lomiat08-03-06, 10:32 AM | My wizard recently gained access on an AR to a White Robe of the Archmagi, and I wondered if this would effectively grant him the ability to craft any Robe of the Archmagi or only the white robe. Since the DMG listing is for the Robe of the Archmagi (and not by color), I wanted to double-check how this might work. My wizard is true neutral, and I'd hate to cheezemonkey (aka Greyhawk) his alignment just to gain beneficial item access, but I'd be sorely tempted if I didn't see a Gray Robe by 14th level (and if this access didn't count as Robe of the Archmagi [general] access). Any Circle members lurking on the board, please feel free to let me know how you would rule the matter of access. Thanks. |

In its FAQ on page 70-71, it states:Q: If I gain access to a bane weapon enhancement through adventure play, such as bane (undead), do I gain access to craft any bane weapon enhancement? A: No. You only gain crafting access for specific bane types you encounter on weapons.I would say that, using that question as an example, if you gain access to a White Robe of the Archmagi, that does not allow you to craft the other colors. |

I know a wizard in my region who went from Neutral to Good when he realised this, then back to Neutral when he decided he didn't want the robe after all ;) |

I eventually decided that it wasn't actually going to be all that beneficial, given that vest of resistance access is becoming more readily available, that greater mage armour now exists, and that by the time you can make this thing, spell resistance shouldn't really be a problem. It is very characterful though ;-) Jolyon |
