This has probably already been asked or clarified but with a quick eyeball search since the advanced search functions still don’t work, would have been nice for that to be fixed prior to worrying about the spending so much time to launch the whole Gleemax digital website and all.

In the LGCS 597 is says on pg. 15 under Magical Items: Creating Magical

You can craft any item for which you meet the crafting prerequisites and which either appears in Appendix 4: Open Items or you have ever had access to purchase in the Items Found section of any AR.

Further down under bullet point #4 it says:

You can scribe scrolls, craft wands, and brew potions for spells you can cast.

Does this mean I can scribe a scroll of Lesser Vigor if I’m a cleric of 1st level with the Scribe Scroll Feat after the first module if I want to sacrifice the appropriate XP and GP cost after my first AR and spent a TU?

yes :)

and some other useful non-PHB spell to have on scroll is "resurgence" ;)

Check out my LG Open Spell List to quickly identify other candidates:

http://members.aol.com/kenjenks/lg/

Like these:

Blessed Aim: +2 bonus for allies' ranged attacks. SpC
Healthful Rest: Subjects heal at twice the normal rate. SpC
Resurgence: You grant subject a second chance at a saving throw. SpC
Vigor, Lesser: Creature heals 1 HP/round (max 15 rounds). SpC FAQ

Healing Lorecall: With 5+ ranks in Heal, you can remove harmful conditions with conjuration (healing) spells. SpC
Iron Silence: Armor touched has no armor check penalty on Hide and Move Silently checks for 1 hour/level. SpC
Chain of Eyes: You send magical sensors to infiltrate an area. SpC
Cloak of Bravery: You and your allies gain a bonus on saves against fear. SpC
Flame of Faith: Gives weapon the flaming burst special ability. SpC
Resurgence, Mass: As resurgence, but multiple targets. SpC
Ring of Blades: Blades surround you, damaging other creatures (1d6+1/level damage, max +10). Costs 2 gp for a small dagger. SpC
Vigor, Mass Lesser: As lesser vigor, but multiple targets (max 25 rounds). SpC FAQ
Weapon of the Deity: +1 to your weapon's attack and damage, plus a special ability. SpC LGCS Clarification

Those are mostly special-purpose spells that you don't really want to prepare every day, but which would be very useful in special circumstances -- perfect for a scroll or potion.

A Wand of Lesser Vigor is more cost-effective than a Wand of CLW.

Related question: Can I craft multiple scrolls, especially since 1st level spells are only 25gp, and the time requirement is always 1 TU?

So, could I craft 200 1st level Cleric scrolls (= 5000gp = 5 days = 1 TU) at a 200xp and 2500gp cost?

And how much do 200 scrolls weigh?

You may craft only one item per day. Presently, subject to table variation, you can craft a single scroll with multiple spells on it in a single day. You must be able to prepare all the spells you are scribing -- so if you can only prepare 2 first level spells, then you can place no more than 2 first level spells on a single scroll.

IIRC, scrolls weigh one pound for every spell they contain.

There shouldn't be any table variation on multiple spells/scroll but sadly there may be. You should make it clear that that line has been removed from the LGCS since many people don't realise it yet (hopefully a GM will be aware of it by now).

You could craft a single multi-spell scroll over multiple days but there probably isn't any good reason to do so.

Any source for that?

Whether that's the correct weight or not, the rules for it are spelled out in the Scroll section of the DMG

Remember you can scribe 0-level spells too. Can't hurt to have a few extra Guidances scribed for when someone needs help on a skill check. So you could scribe 2-level 1 spells and a few level 0 spells on a single scroll in a single day.

...You must be able to prepare all the spells you are scribing...

This isn't the whole truth. You can cast a spell from a Wand or another scroll to satisfy the "casting the spell" to put it on the scroll.

Also, a decent reference for how much scrolls weigh is to consider that a new, blank spellbook from the PHB has 100 pages and weighs 3 lbs. So, if you count the covers as weighing .5 lbs of that weight, you're looking at 2.5 lbs for 100 pages which makes 20 scrolls per lb (it's 40 pages but a page is double-sided and a scroll isn't). Granted that is only one spell per scroll so just count multi-spell scrolls as multiple "pages" for weight (i.e. a ten-spell scroll is 1/2 a pound).

Hopefully that isn't too confusing.

Spellbooks are not scrolls. They are not treated the same, don't cost the same and there is nothing to suggest that they weight he same.

The rules for Scroll weight are right there int eh DMG -there's no reason to make something up.

Could you help me find those rules? The "physical description" section under "Scrolls" on DMG 237 - 238 doesn't mention weight. On PHB 128, the weight of a map or scroll case is listed as 1/2 lb., but it doesn't say how many can fit in one case, and it doesn't say how much they weigh.

Timlagor, this is the second time you have posted claiming that text exists for a scroll's weight. Please enlighten the rest of us with a reference because saying "it's there, it's there" is just causing confusion.

And to defend my post about a spellbook and scroll comparison, a scroll and a single page of a spellbook are almost exactly the same thing. They are written with the same "magical" writing and they are both on the same type of paper required for the magical writing. Sure a scroll may be slightly more rough and tumble so as to not fall apart while bouncing around in your backpack but not by much.

hows crafting wounderous items work with set items (some one said you can craft the whole set if you find just 1 of the items from the set) is this so?

just as a minor side note

there is more than one day available to do stuff in a TU

I think the accepted ratio is 5 working days per TU but someone with a bit more information may want to confirm or correct me on that.

I'm sorrry. It appears I was dreaming.
My ruling would be that they have 0 (negligible) weight just as paper and partchment does. The absence of a specified weight indicates that it isn't considered significant imo.

It is indeed 5 working days to the TU (LGCS says so i think)

Ste Items: ask whoever issued the AR with the item you do have access to.

i think there is a ruling on "bane" weapons and increasing power items like "amulet of health" +2 => +4 => +6. one has to find the specific item to craft it.

so the same would apply to "wondrous items". one cannot craft ALL different "figurines of wondrous power" because one has found the silly "silver raven", sorry.

Lupo you've missed the point.

There are items in the MIC definied as sets. The MIC specifically states that once you get your hands on one you can craft the rest of the set (or something very similar).
This probably applies in LG but I'd check with the Triad/Circle before using it.

i have checked the MIC . . .

references to "item sets":

page 4: nothing about being able to craft all of a set once one has found one of the set.

page 191: introduction of item sets, nothing on special crafting rules.

description of the first "item set item" "breastplate of terror" page 192 (similar for ALL item set items) : "Prerequisites: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, cause fear, possession of one piece of the set"

i see it as just the opposite of the interpretation you gave. one HAS TO OWN at least one item of the set to be able to craft another one that has been found on an AR.

That's how I read it too.
It means you need to buy the first one no matter what, then if you find another piece you can craft it without buying it.
