Dervish dance and Snowflake war dance [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-05-07, 09:10 AM Does anyone see any reason why you couldn't use the dervish dance and snowflake war dance(feat from frostburn) at the same time?

But as matt says it works. even better burn a bardic music for snowflake, do dervish+snowflake dance and..... sing bardic music at the same time (allowed under dervish dancing rules :) )

It'd be a pain skills-wise too, because you'd need to be taking ranks in two perform skills.

Why couldn't "dance" be your perform for your inspire curage as well?

06-06-07, 04:22 AM Because the Bardic Music ability requires ranks in a Perform (instrument, song or oratory) skill.

There is a feat (in CA?) which IIRC allows you to treat ranks in one perform skill as ranks in other )or all?) perform skills but whether the wording would be strong enough to satisfy the pre-reqs for two different PrCs I don't know.

it allows to choose a number of perform skills equal to your Int bonus that use the highest ranking perform skill at the time.
(cannot be changed later) So you could have 6 ranks in singing and 1 rank in dancing. if you took this feat and had a +1 bonus to Int. for all gameplay purposes it would be like you had a 6 ranks in singing and dancing.

BTW it is an open feat.

06-06-07, 05:33 AM Clarification: You can't change your choice of perform skills for the Feat; extra ranks will have the desired effect (though usually you'd just invest in the highest after that)

06-11-07, 11:16 PM Ah, don't trade a feat for skills if you're building on a bard base.

There's a good feat in PHB II (Battle Dancer, I think?) for this kind of character. Bard 4 / Fighter 4 with Weapon Spec/Mastery is wise–you could go Bard 8 instead for Arcane Strike and Bardsong +2 if you wanted to be more magic-oriented.

You need to use a light weapon for Snowflake Wardance, right? That rules out a Power Dervish build, unfortunately.

Also, you need ranks in any Perform skill to "unlock" a bard song. So even though you might have 0 ranks in Perform(sing), you can still use Perform(sing) when Inspiring Courage, as your maxed Perform(dance) ranks are suitable to "unlock" it.

Also, Snowflake Wardance specifies that you have to wield a slashing weapon in one hand to make use of it. Thus, Scimitars, Longswords, and Whips, among others, are all fair game.
