I'm considering playing a Kobold and need to determine if the +2 cir bonus from a disguise kit is affordable enough for starting equipment (I will probably turn up doing it anyway) I'm thinking daily, but it isn't stated in the description of the kit (and I don't have a PHB on to look up the skill) |

I'm considering playing a Kobold and need to determine if the +2 cir bonus from a disguise kit is affordable enough for starting equipment (I will probably turn up doing it anyway) I'm thinking daily, but it isn't stated in the description of the kit (and I don't have a PHB on to look up the skill) I don't think it's marked so it would depend on the type of disguise. If your disguise is involved, I would guess that it needs to be refreshed after every rest period...whether that's once every 24 hours or once every 8 hours for napping...and probably once every combat in which you take damage or deal melee damage...and then...some spells might just destroy your disguise...such as fireball. Wax nose..body glues for moustaches and the like? That'll need to be refreshed more often in the sub-tropical heat and humidity of Keoland or the Hold of the Sea Princes. I'm hoping though that a rules lawyer will prove the case that the disguise check HAS no duration and you can keep it on forever checking only when you change it. |

A check in this should provide a synergistic bonus for the disguise, but it might not be written into the rules and you would be compelled to rely upon a kind DM to grant you a circumstance bonus. "That's not a tail, it's a scabbard for my sword. What's wrong with you people?" |

If you don’t draw any attention to yourself, others do not get to make Spot checks. If you come to the attention of people who are suspicious (such as a guard who is watching commoners walking through a city gate), it can be assumed that such observers are taking 10 on their Spot checks. You get only one Disguise check per use of the skill, even if several people are making Spot checks against it. The Disguise check is made secretly, so that you can’t be sure how good the result is. The effectiveness of your disguise depends in part on how much you’re attempting to change your appearance. If you are impersonating a particular individual, those who know what that person looks like get a bonus on their Spot checks according to the table below. Furthermore, they are automatically considered to be suspicious of you, so opposed checks are always called for. Usually, an individual makes a Spot check to see through your disguise immediately upon meeting you and each hour thereafter. If you casually meet many different creatures, each for a short time, check once per day or hour, using an average Spot modifier for the group. |

| ShinAkuma207-31-07, 01:55 PM | Wait wait...Is the question about how often the kit has to be refreshed? Or how often the disguise itself needs to be refreshed? I think some of y'all are answering a question that was never asked. |
| UMiskatonic07-31-07, 01:58 PM | Instead of Perform(Act), you want Bluff. Take a look at what 5 ranks of Bluff does for you. |
