| shearin6907-10-06, 11:16 PM | Is there any guidance on this feat in a prior posting? As I read it, a cleric can select this feat, choose a Metamagic feat (silence - one spell slot higher) and anytime he wants to cast a Silence spell he would burned the Turning/Rebuking attempts to compensate for use of metamagic plus any level slots required (two attempts in my example) and off it goes. |
| Haro07-11-06, 01:53 AM | It's been errated to have the requirement "choose a metamagic feat that you have" meaning it now costs two feats for all intents and purposes. Since Clerics are feat starved I think the errata brings the power of the feat into line; previously it was just broken. |

| Madfox1107-11-06, 03:49 AM | It also can only be applied to the spells the character gets from his cleric levels. The errata brings back some resemblence of balance back to the feats, but personally I still don't like them. Anything that allows meta-magic feats to apply to spells that normally cannot be affected by that particular meta-magic feat or long before you usually see them just feels wrong. Besides, they also compare disfavorable to the sudden meta-magic feats which can only be used 1/day and some of which have much stricter requirements (just compare sudden quicken with divine quicken - though most people that go for divine quicken also take extra turning and a high charisma). |
| Iswald07-11-06, 09:11 AM | It also can only be applied to the spells the character gets from his cleric levels. The eratta states it can be used with divine spells. It is possible to take a level of cleric and then use DMM with druid spells. But, you couldn't take a level of cleric and use DMM with sorcerer spells. |
| Abel230608-02-06, 09:50 AM | Don't think this applies to LG specific rules... There is PrC that alows a character to alter her spells nature i.e divine-arcane: Geomancer (Complete Divine pg 41) Also, this feat is still very potent (broken IMO) if you consider a persistant cleric build (Persistant Spell: Complete Arcane pg 81) ... a cleric with a proper feat tree can cast any spell with a fixed range or personal (touch, personnal, range that doesn't alter with caster level) that aren't instantaneous, as persistant spells (abilty boosters, creature conjurations, vigor spells, bless, prayer, sanctuary, protection from, shield of faith, etc...) just by using up turn/rebuke attempts. And divine metamagic isn't level limited like metamagic song (Races of Stone pg 142) is for bards. But i doubt any of this is allowed in the LG setting ;) |

| Abel230608-02-06, 10:17 AM | I'm playing a campaign ATM with a cleric that has the elf domain... persistant haste anyone? :p |
| blood_kite08-02-06, 08:36 PM | Just thought of something so much worse. DMM (Persistent) and Trickery Domain. 1st round of combat: - Free action. Identify opponents and determine spells most likely to help. - Standard action. DMM (Persistent) Time Stop. 2nd round of combat: - Start using spells and pre-cast buffs to nerf encounter. After every combat: - DMM (Persistent) Time Stop. Get all spells back? |
| Arvagor08-02-06, 09:13 PM | Seeing as this is for LG, it'll never happen... Persistent Spell is restricted ('nuff said, we can stop there if we want) Time Stop is a Sor/Wiz9, Trickery 9 spell -- a spell level inaccessible to players (unless the PC moves to the high-level campaign). A persistent time stop is considered a 15th level spell, which requires the caster to have taken the Improved Spell Capacity feat at least 6 times, meaning the wizard must be at least 30th level |
| blood_kite08-03-06, 02:28 PM | I know it's restricted in LG, and I know this post will simply take us further off topic but: Divine Metamagic (Persistent) Time Stop is a 9th level divine spell that could be cast by a 17th level cleric. |
| Iswald08-03-06, 02:28 PM | A persistent time stop is considered a 15th level spell, which requires the caster to have taken the Improved Spell Capacity feat at least 6 times, meaning the wizard must be at least 30th level [/list] I think the idea is that as a geomancer, you take the more favorable aspect of the divine/arcane attributes of the spell. A DMM [persistent] Time Stop would still only take a 9th level slot. To become a geomancer would require 3 levels of cleric. With three levels of wizard and taking all geomancer spell level increases as wizard spells, the character would be able to use this trick at 20th level, unless my math is off. But, a cleric with the correct domain could do it more quickly. In LG, it may be possible to use this with some other metamagic feat instead of persistent. |
