Domain access question [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-24-07, 01:02 PM I am sorry if this topic has already been brought up on the board, but I could not find it here.

I am looking at building a new cleric character and when I looked into what domains the new LGCS had as core I noticed that it did not match the domains available for legal LG dieties.

Such as the destruction domain is not on the core LGCS list but is allowed by a few of the LG legal dieties.

Is there a ruling on which takes precedence over the other?

Does selecting a specific god grant that believer the access to those non-core domains which that diety grants or are we likely to see in the near future a new diety list?

04-24-07, 01:05 PM The LG Deity document can be downloaded from the LG homepage, and yes, the domains for soem gods do differ from those in the PHB and similar sources.

My question was not so much what was on the LG diety document, but rather which one superceeds the other.

For all other things the LGCS is the law which superceeds all other D&D documentation.

If this holds true here than there are a number of dieties in the LG diety document which have access to domains which are not on the core domain list in the new LGCS, but are not on the restricted domain list.

So my question is this, does being a believer for one of these gods give you access to the non-core domains like the destruction domain?

04-24-07, 02:36 PM I think the Deities document counts as 'Specific Documentation' in this instance (ie it gives you access if they aren't on the CLOSED list). That's certainly how I would treat it for the moment unless someone has a specific ruling.

I gather that progress is actually being made on the next version of the Deities Document (which may clarify this issue)... but that may well be wishful thinking.

EDIT: The LGCS also doesn't list any of the PHB Domains since they are already Open (this may be your whole problem).
