Is the Dragon Samurai prestige class (from the MH) open, or closed, access? I don't see it listed in the LGCS, so does that default it to closed access?

Thanks

The Default is Unlisted.

If you get Access on an AR then you can take it. Otherwise you can't.

Well, technically, there's no official term for "unlisted" items in the new LGCS, though "NONC" ("neither open nor closed") gets used unofficially.

In short: if it's on the Open list, you can use / buy it with no particular restrictions. If it's on the Closed list, you will *never* be allowed to use it. If it's on neither list, you can't use it without campaign documentation (e.g., AR access, metaorg access, etc.)

Since Dragon Samurai isn't on either list, it's in that "NONC" category; in other words, you need access to take it, but, in theory, access is possible.

sure.. but "noncy" is horrible

A quick check of the Nyrond and Zeif turbines suggests that out of five thousand characters or so, none have taken Dragon Samurai levels. If there is access at all out there, it's likely stuffed in some obscure regional; but I doubt the access is out there at all.

Even though it's not closed to everyone per the LGCS, I doubt we'll ever see it. The Japanese-feel classes are not "Greyhawk-ish", and the Samurai, Ninja, Wu Jen, and Shugenja are all closed because of that.

Someone might get a Special Mission for it. But that's only good for one character.

It would also require the Circle to approve it which as King Kashue points out is unlikely in this case.

That's an excellent point. Given that the Samurai base class is Closed, I guess I'm a little surprised that Dragon Samurai isn't on that list, too.

The reason Dragon Samurai is not closed is probably because asside from the name, the class doesn't really have any Asian flavor to it, unlike the samurai or ninja classes. I doubt you'd have a hard time getting it with a special mission, given it's not a spectacularly powerful class to begin with, so you shouldn't have anyone denying you on the cheese front either.

*knows of one such "obscure regional" that does give access to Dragon Samurai PrC*

For awhile, it was available in Verbobonc due to a specific regional NPC; I am not aware of anyone taking any levels in it though. It is underpowered, particularly compared to other warrior-type p-classes (including the core dragon disciple).

Shannus is a real sweety, you just have to know him a bit better.
(And he's a hunk, too!)

I was wondering when you'd show up to stick up for that whack-job Nessalia calls a mate. ;)

Well, we're both whacky, so we make a good pair.
I don't know that many other people that support or like Shannus though, but I guess I just don't meet them.
Oddly enough the people that seem to have the most severe dislike for him seem to be people that are very much like him in character... it's mostly the goals that differ.

Arafinwe's made his choice. If its siding with Shannus or siding with the humans of the Viscounty, Shannus can count on Arafinwe's blade. I don't know of any other PCs who support Shannus though...
