| Rerednaw09-28-06, 08:42 PM | I was reading the PHB and there it was (page 35) "...options: crocodile, porpoise..." I checked the SRD and it said the same thing. I checked the PHB errata and the Main FAQ. I may have missed it but I did not find a clarification. If it is addressed in the 596LGCS I cannot find it. Can a level 1 druid can have a crocodile as an animal companion? I'm trying to find specific errata or a FAQ that addresses this. Anyone? |
| RedKnightofKet09-28-06, 08:52 PM | You're missing the previous part of the sentence, which I think brings this into line: "If the DM's Campaign takes place wholly or partly in an aquatic environment, the DM may add the following creatures to the druid's list of options:" To me, this looks like an optional rule. Optional rules are not used in LG. Even so, with the crocodile listed as an alternate companion (aquatic only) on the following page, I would argue no. I wouldn't allow it at my table. |
| celexter09-29-06, 02:27 AM | For me, the only reason is that LG is not an aquatic campaign. Therefore, no for me too. |
| Rerednaw09-29-06, 09:42 AM | The crocodile is not aquatic only. Even if you aren't a druid there's a mod where you can get one. Hence my confusion. I'll ask my local Triad. Appreciate the input! |
| Arvagor09-29-06, 04:21 PM | The most recent printings of the PHB do not list crocodile at all. Since LG uses the most recent rules for any particular item (class, spell, feat, etc.), then it would stand that croc is unavailable, period. |

PHB Page 36, under "Alternative Animal Companions". Is that removed, or you just didn't see it? |
| Arvagor09-30-06, 01:39 PM | It doesn't? PHB Page 36, under "Alternative Animal Companions". Is that removed, or you just didn't see it?It is still listed as an animal companion for a 4th level druid, it is just removed for the 1st level druid... |
| celexter09-30-06, 10:25 PM | It is still listed as an animal companion for a 4th level druid, it is just removed for the 1st level druid... Oh, I thought you are talking about it gone from PHB totally... Pardon me. |
