If a Wasteland Druid or Ranger were to change regions, would they still be able to choose their Animal Companion from the Wasteland list.

Also, would they be able to use MM2 and the Fiend Folio for the Dire Elephant and the Dire Rhinoceras?

EDIT: I have one additional question that slipped my mind while typing the others. :) The Wasteland companion section says I may select a Camel as a first level Druid. Can I select any of the three camels listed in the book? I would think the answer would be yes because 1st level is the only time Camel is listed as a companion.

Thanks for any insight.

To my knowledge, Camels do not exist in LG. From memory I saw something about it in a circle ruling on the Pale website.

As for animal companion choices, you must choose from the list in the PHB, unless you have access to another type (Wasteland Druids have a few more options) but barring a cert, that would be your limit for choices.

It's a good question. You keep spells, feats, equipment, and PrCs, but lose access to gaining any new rule items. This is rather awkward.

Those are the sources. The answer should be the same as above. Of course, that's a 16th level companion, so you'll need a PrC or feat that bumps your companion.

War camel is expressly prohibited (see the Pale site). Of the other two, there is nothing to suggest you cannot choose which.

Hmm. After re-reading the Brightsands document, it actually says that you can't gain new rules items granted by the region. I would think that the Wasteland Animal companions list is something that would be granted by the class you've taken, not the region you're from, but thats just my opinion. If nothing else it makes more sense than saying a Druid that changes his region just can't ever gain a new companion, which would be kinda dumb.

Also, would they be able to use MM2 and the Fiend Folio for the Dire Elephant and the Dire Rhinoceras?Since those creatures appear on the list on page 48 of Sandstorm, they should be perfectly valid. I would, however check on whether your selection, if you choose a MM2 or Fiend Folio creature, has been updated in a more recent source. For example, the 7th level list contains the dire hawk, which has a 3.5 version in Races of the Wild (whereas the MM2 version is still 3.0).
