I know clerics that are good are not permitted to cast spells w/ the Evil descriptor.

I was wondering if arcane casters were permitted to cast spells w/ this descriptor in Living Greyhawk.

One spell i am looking at taking for my Sorcerer is Necromancy [Evil] but it appears to be 'Limited' according to the LGCS.

I dont want to play my character at DragonCon w/ an illegal spell, however, so a quick answer would be very helpful.

Thanks!

If it is LIMITED, then you must gain access to it via favor or metaorg. If you have the favor, then you may take it. If you were not allowed to have it, as far as Arcane goes, it would have been RESTRICTED or NPC ONLY, instead of Limited. So...if you have the access, its yours.

That even spells acceptable to Living Greyhawk rules doesn't mean that particular regions won't have restrictions on spell use..

I mean you certainly are able to use Evards Black Tentacles according to Living Greyhawk.. but could end up in jail if casting it in Bissel..

That's pretty much what I figured. I do have access to limited spells via a favor, so I'll grab the spell. I just wanted to have it in writing in case there were questions at DragonCon :)

Thanks!

Keep in mind that favors that grant "general" access to limited spells are being errata'ed, to reflect the fact that the new LGCS doesn't spell out a Limited list. You should probably contact the Triad responsible for that favor, and make sure of the current effect of it.

My wizard gained access to scrolls of summon undead in an interactive in the BK, but when I got back home to the Yeomanry, I was told by a Triad member if I used it my character would be put in jail.

The best thing to do before a con is ask the DM his or her opinion. If they're cool with it, use the spell. If not, just don't use it at that table. Simple enough.

PCs can cast spells with the evil descriptor. Judges are free to make a note of each time they are cast. Just like any other evil acts, enough of them could shift the PCs alignment, though it would be up to the local triad to decide what would happen if a pattern existed.
