The LGCS does not give access to buy spell focus items not listed in the Player's Handbook. For example, the Creeping Cold spell requires a slightly expensive focus, but there is no official access to buy that focus.

I was told by my triad that all spell components can be bought in any mod. But if you cast a spell with a spell component with a cost you have to buy it in that mod.

Though some clarification would be nice, or at least a little sentence/paragraph in the LGCS saying that all spell components can be bought in any mod or some such.

This topic was not covered in the final LGCS 5.

Bump.

This text from LGCS 596 page 65 may cover the situation:

Q: Do I have to have a specific spell component listed on my sheet to use the spell?

A: No. As long as the component is readily available (does not state it requires campaign documentation, is from the PH, and is not a planar fork) then you merely need to cross the cost in gold off your AR at the end of the event.

But the component for Creeping Cold is not "from the PH."
