Hey guys,

Can you use a Stunning Fist attack in the same round you employ Fiery Fists? Although this would cost you two stunning attempts is it possible?

I don't see why not. Fiery Fist requires a swift action to activate, but Stunning Fist is a non-action. Even though it uses up a Stunning Fist use for the day, activating the feat is not making a stunning attack, so you shouldn't run up against the "no more than once per round" rule for using Stunning Fist...

I think you would need Rapid Stunning.

Normally, as indicated by the Rapid Stunning feat, "[y]ou may only attempt a stunning attack (or any other special attacks that count against your daily limit of stunning attacks) once per round."

Of course, it would be nice if the Stunning Fist feat itself actually said that... :waits:

I'll agree that that makes sense, and would put the use of Stunning Fist into the same category as Divine (no more than one use of turn attempts per round) or Wild (no more than one use of wild shape per round) feats.

Stunning Fist does say it's only once per round. At the time it was written, there were no other ways to use SF attempts.

Ahh, makes sense I guess. Time to find another 3rd level feat. :)

Well, hey, there's nothing wrong with Fiery Fists. Not everything you fight will be susceptible to both moves, and it opens the Ki Blast feat.

My Monk is doing a little retraining soon to get Ki Blast. :)

It's just perfect for recreating characters from a certain manga penned by Akira Toriyama.

Ki Blast, Leap of the Heavens.... >.>;

I have resolved to never, ever say anything remotely similar to "Hadoken" or "Kamehameha" when performing a Ki Blast. It was cliche' the minute the feat was printed.

So what WILL he say when Will does it?

"Kikoken" seems most appropriate, if we want to stick to Street Fighter...

Catch sounds good for a humorous monk. "X thrusts his hand toward the enemy, sending a blast of force at its chest" sounds good for a more serious character.

"Eat this!"
"I'm not touching you! I"M NOT TOUCHING YOU!!" (Also works for ranged pin.)
"HEY FIGHTER, STEP BACK SO I HAVE A CLEAR SHOT!"

I can't think of anything serious to say while using Ki-Blast. Although I do agree that we need an official ruling/errata.

"SPIRIT GUN!" is another candidate for never being said. Although it does sound better (and is a little more fitting) than Kamehameha (An energy BEAM) and Hadoken (a FIREBALL).

You have to watch Yu Yu Hakusho to get "spirit gun" though.

PS: Does anybody else think that Ki Blast is of limited utility? How many monks are going to take point blank shot and precise shot to avoid the -4 for firing into melee?

Indeed it is of limited utility, not designed to be specialized in. More for those times when you just need the ability to make ANY ranged attack, or the ability to damage incorporeals. The fact that it uses 2 stunning attempts, and is effectively a full round action to use (move to activate, standard to throw), very much limit how often you will be using it, but for those times that you DO need it, it is probably worth it. Better then a monk not being able to do ANYTHING against incorps without Magic Fang/Weapon or Amulet of Mighty Fists. That, and it's just cool.

How many monks will be using Ki Blast if the opponent is reachable by melee attacks?
