| TheMagus02-08-06, 01:07 PM | Any chance of allowing first level characters to be redesigned if they haven't made second level yet? A lot of times a new player makes up a character that isn't suitable for the region or has a very sub-optimal design. They play a couple of times and when they realize they've made mistakes the only way to correct them is to create a new character. It really sucks when a guy who has two ARs to his name has to make this kind of choice. For that matter I've even seen experienced players do this, usually after getting bad build advice. |

| Doogles562802-09-06, 06:24 PM | On the contrary, that thread, while it discusses some possibilities of a 1st or 2nd level requirement, doesn't really devote itself to them. What are the pros and cons of allowing rebuilds up to say, 2nd level? They would be very hard to abuse, and with character concepts staying similar or about the same, continuity would fluctuate only slightly. What would be the major issues in allowing character rebuilds before the character attains second level? The lgchardiscussion is a wonderful list, but many players may not know about it or consider enlisting it to build characters that work. Understanding fully that characters are meant to be fun to play and not just optimized, I think the option of a 1st level rebuild would be reasonable. |
| GenghisBob02-09-06, 08:00 PM | The benfits of a lst / 2nd level rebuild, are that New players to LG, are often handed Pre Gens or quick roughly made characters, often the new person is not up to speed on the flavour of LG or their Region. SO in this case it allows the New Player to modify the character they where given to better suite a character concept they did not have at their first table of LG. Conversely, even experienced LG players may start a new character, create a wonderful back story, a great concept, and then after the first game or two where they actually start to role play the new character decide that the concept and back story and thus ‘build’ does not suite how they now see the character after one or two sessions of role playing the character. Sure there are stories of Players that have persevered and made those hasty or unfamiliar characters in to Heroes and some have retired after hitting the level caps this year. I’d like to see the ability to mould development of the PC though the first 2 or so games rather than a concept and backstory before actually role playing the character. For many, they would never need to even consider the low level rebuild or as it is called elsewhere ‘Recycle’ |

("Why should I tackle this huge learning curve when I can just play in a home game?") I love the impact that Intro mods have had in reducing this confusion. A 1st level rebuild option is that much chocolate syrup on the sundae. :AMN: |
