Guidance for DMs on DMM/DSP/Polymorph [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm not sure if there are any active modules with Polymorphing enemies, but there certainly are plenty where the NPCs use DMM, and quite possibly ones with DSP. What should DMs do in these cases?

ISTR that in previous years the ruling has been that DMs use the module as written, including now-closed options, though they might choose not to make use of abilities an NPC has that relies on things which are now not allowed in the campaign. Is this the line that we should take this year? I can think of one module in particular with an NPC cleric with Rapid Spell and DMM (Rapid Spell). He hasn't prepared any spells using Rapid Spell (why would you!?) so to not use DMM (Rapid) would mean that he's not using two feats. On the other hand, players are going to be somewhat aggrived if December comes and they are still playing modules where their enemies are using rules options they've not had access to for nine months!

Does anyone have any advice?

We'll probably come up with some advice on this next week. Right now it's more important to finish off the LGCS, though.
