Are there any rules that make a "Hero God" different from a normal one?

Specifically, I'm looking at Kelanen as an option for the cleric I am making and I don't want to run into any surprised down the road. Can they grant all the same spells and so forth?

Also, he has the War domain and lists "any martial sword(m)" as his favored weapon so I am planning on taking Scimitar (the cleric is a half-orc). That's ok isn't it?

Basicly, hero-gods just have the least domains (2 or 3) as they are the weakest gods. You can cast up to 9th level spells (unlikely in LG). Scimitar is fine.

It should be noted that Kelanen has restrictions on what weapons his divine casting followers are allowed to use. They can use swords, crossbows, and daggers. This includes weapons that are described as similar to swords, crossbows, and dagger. The scimitar is fine, but carrying a backup mace would probably be frowned upon. I've also been told that the church prefers its clerics to be True Neutral.
