How does handle animal work in LG? [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-23-06, 03:52 PM None of the above are vermin. But none of the above can be purchased from the PHB, so unless you would have one of them as your animal companion, you can't obtain them without special documentation.

12-25-06, 11:33 PM Warbeast template (MM2) can be applied to vermin. It just doesnt get some of the modifiers.. I'm not sure about using handle animal to train vermin.

Isn't there a "Vermin Lord" prestige class?

As most vermin are mindless (i.e., no Int score), they would not be subject to Handle Animal checks.

Isn't there a "Vermin Lord" prestige class?Not in 3.5. The Vermin Lord PrC is in the Book of Vile Darkness, and seeing as one of the requirements is an evil alignment, no LG character could take it anyway.

I believe there is a feat in Eberron which allows vermin to be treated as if they had an intelligence score.. but that doesnt help us here.

I am confused how the Warbeast template (MM2) is allowed to be applied to Vermin, yet it requires a handle animal check to apply, thus the vermin could not be trained? There must be another way to grant vermin an effective intelligence score.. dig out your books people.. start digging.
