Imbued & Augmented Summoning [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-14-07, 09:19 AM Imbued Summoning from the PHB is a meta-magic feat, so I can create scrolls with it? When I create a scroll, do I create it with the 'bonus' spell, or is the bonus spell chosen when I cast from the scroll?

e.g. do I create a scroll of
Imbued Summon Monster III
or
Imbued (Invisibility) Summon Monster III
?

Also, If I cast a summoning spell from a scroll/wand/staff etc. and I have the Augmented Summoning feat, are my beasties augmented?

06-14-07, 11:22 AM I would say that you can use it for crafting and must cast the second spell at the time of casting (but they almost certainly didn't think of this when they wrote it)

Augment Summoning only applies to spells cast out of your head.

I saw that a while ago. To me, it seems like it should only work with staves. No other items use the abilities of the user to determine the effects (ignoring wild mages and the like).

It struck me as rather odd too, but the answer has been revoked yet, so I figure they've considered changing it and decided it was right.

06-17-07, 01:21 PM Sage advice is not binding in LG and that looks like another instance of it simply being wrong. If it was in the FAQ it would chenge the rules but it isn't.

In the absence of such a rule, that Sage Advice entry is as good as any other source for whether augment summoning works on spells from scrolls and wands.

No one must use it.
Anyone is free to use it as a reference when making a decision about the rule.

Yes, as long as the magic item is specifically using a
summon spell.

"adding 2 HP of healing per level of spell" even when casted from a spell trigger or spell completion item??

as nice as this sounds to me as a player . . . . . this seems quite against every "logic" how magic should work ;)

Overall, I'd expect so.
Of course I don't think augment healing should work with the vigor spells, but it does, so I don't see how it wouldn't work with anything else.
