Improved Familiar or Improved Familiar? [Archive] - Wizards Community

1) I couldn't find a match using google.
2) I'm sorry if this has been asked before
3) Don't have the CWar book in front of me.

Does Improved Familiar (CWar) completely replace Improved Familiar (DMG) per the 'newer book' clause of the LGCS? Or was it supposed to be a supplemental list (choose from either?)

04-05-07, 10:17 AM It is a supplemental list that includes creatures that are more worthwhile in a fight and that adds BAB as an additional requirement for special creatures.

04-05-07, 05:28 PM LG uses three Improved Familiar feats: the DMG one, the CS one, and the CW one. Each is a different feat, so keep track of which one you take; they each have separate familiar tables to choose from.

I thought each one was the same feat, they all extend the list of Improved Familiars you could choose from?

04-06-07, 10:20 AM Technicly.. The lgcs states that you use the most recent printing of any feat. So you should only get the options from the most recent printing of the feat.

From what I have seen, alot of DMs say that you need the Improved Familiar Feat AND AR access to a specific Familiar in order to choose one.

BRITT !!! A FAQ could clear this up real quick..

Complete Scoundrel has the feat again? Uh-oh, looks like another book for a single page. :D

So far my wizard has needed CWar, CAdv, and CDiv...now he needs CScoundrel as well? Not to mention half of the stuff he uses in CAr got reprinted or superceded in PHB II and SpC.

I think the books should be changed from the Complete series to the INcomplete series.

Ah who am I kidding, I'll get it next paycheck...I collect 3.5 books the way other collect MTG cards. :w00t:

04-07-07, 06:22 PM The LGCS specifically gives you access to multiple versions of the feat. The LGCS is also official campaign documentation, so you don't need anything more than it to take the appropriate improved familiar from the open table–AR access is not required.
