| DuiCe11-03-06, 10:29 PM | Im doin LG tomorrow and i'd like to know if phb2 is legal in lg, because if it is i'd like to become a druid at level 2, to get their wolf shape ability! :D |
| DuiCe11-03-06, 10:38 PM | 2nd question.. Any limit how much you can multiclass? i was thinking bard ((looking for the thing that lets you sacrifice spells for chants cant find it for my life but was told about it)) anyway bard/druid (with phb2form)/dragon shaman ((more chants))/rogue ((have a sneak attack while in wolf form?)) is this possible? |
| Vlatko11-03-06, 10:42 PM | 1) I do not believe PHB2 has been allowed in LG yet. It hadn't last time i checked. 2) No there is no limit i know of. Unless you multiclass out of proportion and get it where your taking 100% xp penalty. As for the rest of the question i have no idea. |
| ShinAkuma211-03-06, 10:44 PM | A couple of my friends have played mods with PHBII access on them, but that's all stuff you'll have to earn. Don't plan around getting exactly what you want. |
| Arvagor11-03-06, 10:45 PM | Per the LGCS, anything like an alternate class feature or substitution levels is not permitted:Q: Can I use racial substitution levels as presented in Races of Stone and Races of Destiny? What about ‘variant’ versions of the core classes like paladin and ranger as presented in Complete Warrior? A: No. The LIVING GREYHAWK campaign does not use those rules options. |
| DuiCe11-03-06, 10:45 PM | Im running a battlebard build right now 18str 18dex, and i dont know what I want to multiclass into, but i know i dont want to be a pure bard ((atleast im not 100% sure of that yet)) |
| Arvagor11-03-06, 10:51 PM | Im running a battlebard build right now 18str 18dex, and i dont know what I want to multiclass into, but i know i dont want to be a pure bard ((atleast im not 100% sure of that yet))I'm guessing that, even if the race is a wood elf, giving you +2 to Str and Dex at the start, your other stats are very low, and the PC is likely not very survivable, especially if he's a bard... What's his race? What are his other stats? |
| DuiCe11-03-06, 10:54 PM | Wood Elf 1st Bard 18 str 18 dex 8 con 6 int 8 wis 14 cha Im still workin on it, I already know people wont like the fact that im not filling the traditional role of a class. Anywho, Those are the stats, i don thave the minatures handbook, but i think theres a bard skill/feat/something in there that says we can sac our spells for group buffs, anyone know about that? |
| DuiCe11-03-06, 10:57 PM | So far I've been thinking of being a bard/druid/rogue cause i want to roleplay a feral roguish type. The mental picture I've gathered so far is turning into a cat(panther)/wolf and clawing my opponents while also getting in sneak attacks. The point of having bard in there? I like bards.. ~.~; |
| DuiCe11-03-06, 10:59 PM | after a little research, am i confusing bards with marshals? |
| DuiCe11-03-06, 11:00 PM | i still like bards cause they're cool ^^; but i mean the aura ability, is that a marshal thing? |
| Arvagor11-03-06, 11:40 PM | Im still workin on it, I already know people wont like the fact that im not filling the traditional role of a class. Not filling a traditional role is fine. But with a Con of 8, you should not consider yourself a "warrior" anything. You've started with 5 hit points, which just about any EL+1 encounter (the typical first encounter in an LG mod) will dish out in one hit -- even a lowly kobold can do this. You named three classes -- bard, rogue, and druid -- all of which have 3/4 BAB progression. Combining them is just going to slow down your ability to hit that much more, especially if you are multi-classing from the start. |

| kenobi6511-04-06, 12:19 AM | 1) I do not believe PHB2 has been allowed in LG yet. It hadn't last time i checked. While you might get access to something from PHB2 in an adventure record, at this point, that book is not generally available for use in LG. |

Your not filling any role of any class. You don't have the BAB to dish out damage, you dont have the HP to tank, and since your not going up levels in bard your not a good buffer/psuedo spellcaster. I like it go with it. But yea Marshals have great bonuses, if your going rogue for sneak dice then take the marshal aura that gives +X damage when flanking. While your at it take a level of scout so everytime you move you get an extra D6 too. Then take a level of Barbarian so you can rage to up your Str. |
| clannagh11-04-06, 10:54 PM | I have seen AR's with access to PHB2 items. I have seen AR's that allow access to variant class features from the races books. This access was specifically NOT allowed to be applied backwards to levels already taken. But neither of these things are allowed without specific AR access. |
| _m_11-05-06, 07:49 AM | + with 8 con, i would confidently say you WILL be killed by con damage / con based saves. in fact with 8 con, id say you'll get killed often by everything... especially seing as though your not a hi hitdice class, and your not a buff-to-survive class. |
| clik_ml11-05-06, 10:14 AM | I have seen AR's with access to PHB2 items. I have seen AR's that allow access to variant class features from the races books. This access was specifically NOT allowed to be applied backwards to levels already taken. But neither of these things are allowed without specific AR access. And also note that even if one did find access to these things, one couldn't make use of them until level 3+ anyway at least as far as spells and feats go, likely applies to PHBII and racial sub levels also, though I've never seen such access, and wouldn't be surprised if that mod got errata'd since racial sub levels are explicitly not allowed. The 8 Constitution is what I would classify as a fatal error. I would even go so far as to recommend that you start over with another character. Otherwise you are going to be very disappointed as you bleed out unconscious in almost every encounter (and likely die repeatedly before hitting level 4 even). I've chipped in to help out a fair number of players needing raise dead, but I don't think I could justify chipping in to help out that character. It's dead on arrival. But the time you are level 3, you might have about as many hit points as a level 2 wizard. Maybe. And judging by your intended multiclassing, you're going to have less BAB than said level 2 wizard as well. That's a problem. If another player brings a trained riding dog with them on an adventure, you are likey to be outclassed by that dog. That's not good. Even if you stay back and become an archer (about the only useful option left to your character as built), you are going to get hit from time to time, and just about anything hitting you will put you down, or certainly kill you at higher levels. It is not at all unusual to take 15 damage in a surprise round or from a trap at APL 4. It is not unheard of to take 40 damage in an area attack at APL 6. Your character can't survive that in any imaginable universe. Sorry. |
| jstorrie11-05-06, 01:31 PM | A Con 8 bard will get pwnt, pure and simple. If you want to play a 'battle bard' consider starting over and aiming for either Warchanter or Wildrunner (or both, really), maybe with a build similar to this: High Elf Str 14 Dex 14 Con 12 Int 14 Wis 8 Cha 14 1 Bard Power Attack, Endurance 2 Bard 3 Fighter Weapon Focus (some two-hander) 4 Fighter Combat Expertise 5 Bard 6 Warchanter Improved Bull Rush 7 Warchanter 8 Warchanter 9 Wildrunner Shock Trooper 10 Wildrunner 11 Wildrunner 12 Wildrunner Improved Toughness 13 Wildrunner 14 Wildrunner 15 Wildrunner Leadership This gives you bard versatility in the low levels, the exceedingly powerful Inspire Recklessness at level 8 for party and solo buffing, damage-dealer mainstay Shock Trooper, and the ability to do some very ridiculous damage at level 14+ (which, really, won't be for a couple of years, but it's nice to know that you'll have the power to deal damage in the hundreds in the late game.) |
| paigeoliver11-06-06, 11:45 PM | I have a couple of low con melee characters. I have a Barbarian/Fighter/Marshall 5th level with a 10 Con who has died twice so far. I also have a 6th level Marshall who has an 8 CON, has never died, and has only been knocked negative from traps. The one who died twice would have equally died with a decent con, both things that killed me had me below -20 and still had attacks left to roll damage for. I find playing low con characters to be pretty exciting, but it isn't for the faint of heart, isn't for your primary character, and isn't for new players. When playing a CON dumped character you need to do something worthwhile with those stat points you saved. Sticking them in DEX for a higher AC isn't the answer. |

Sticking them in DEX for a higher AC isn't the answer. keep in mind though that a barbarian fighter with 10 con is getting 10 or 12 hp at first, and 6 or 7 hp a level, which is the equivalent of a bard with 14 or 16 con. hit dice do make a fairly significant difference. a low con high ac fighter is not nearly as vulnerable as a low con low ac bard. heck, even a low con wiz can buff itself up. imo, unless you have a very good way to make up for it (ie. your a shaper, and dont come out of wildshape unless its vital), simply dont build a character with con that low. |
