| LGMoses12-13-06, 10:55 PM | I guess you guys must have some massive gold at higher levels. I was wondering how you carry a lot of gold with you? I've heard/read a little about converting gp into gems so they're easier to carry. I was wondering where I could get some LG official rules for exchange. I got a barbarian that keeps all of his gp in a big metal pot so I was wondering what he could do with all of that stuff. |
| The_Jester12-13-06, 11:26 PM | Well, I've played some games where the players announce they're only carrying X ammount of gold for weight concerns (and in case of death/slavery) but I'm not sure the rules allow this. It does seem strange there are no banks in the world. However, at higher APLs its easy to assume people have bags of holding or handy haversacks. |
| clannagh12-13-06, 11:31 PM | It says somewhere in LGCS that you can leave stuff "at home" but points out that rules out the "charity of friends" option if you die. The main reason people seem to convert to gems is not so much weight (though that is the "reason given") but it seems more a workaround to have certian spell components (like diamonds for raise dead) on hand without risking selling them back at half price if they need teh cash for other things. |
| LGMoses12-13-06, 11:57 PM | thats true but once again what are the LG rules on converting your stuff into gems. Weight would be a problem if you're like me and have 8 str. :( |
| Britt12-14-06, 01:16 AM | There are no rules. It's considered a commodity, which buys/sells at 100% value. I always carried my spare coin in diamonds for spell components. |
| LGMoses12-14-06, 09:40 AM | o, ok, sweet. |
| UMiskatonic12-14-06, 10:03 AM | Actually, there are rules for it. Look in the PHB equipment section, and find the table for trade goods. Anything on that table is considered a commodity. Feel free to carry around your wealth in the form of any one you please. Jewelery and gems are also commodities, and sell at 100% value |

Nothing is sweeter than converting all your cash into chickens , just have to make sure they don't get away from you. 100g = 5000 chickens! Just watch out, if you have enough handle animal skill to 'push' all the chickens to attack the GM can count them against the APL. |

| KShaver12-14-06, 01:43 PM | Oooh, chicken mob! Yikes! That would definately count against the APL. |
| Britt12-14-06, 01:52 PM | I can't remember who it was, but one of the players around the BK spent one mod figuring out how to mass produce fried chicken; it was probably Mike or Ken in Tulsa :p It involved lots of chickens, flour, eggs, a way of restraining the chickens, and fireball or flamestrike. By the end of the mod, the technique was quite sophisticated. |

| LGMoses12-14-06, 02:56 PM | I was assuming their might be a regional rule or some sort of coin-changing fee to keep up with. That'd be a trip. Now, for what this discussion has spawned. I want everyone with any spare time figuring out how we can make a beastmaster druid with a chicken mob animal companions. Lets get to work people. Adventure writers, start putting access to this as animal companion |

| jhorred12-18-06, 09:18 PM | i presume the chickens will count as a swarm ? Maybe they're medium sized chickens? |
| LGMoses12-18-06, 10:32 PM | I figure we can start giving access to Dire chickens maybe? Regular chickens can come in the mob or swarm form. Dang, thats good, someone create/post the stats of a dire chicken, lets get an approval of this. I want a dire chicken animal companion for my ranger b4 598 CY. |
| Alpha_Nerd12-21-06, 10:59 AM | Do you think a dead chicken has the same value as a live chicken? If so I have no problem buying the biggest bag of holding ever and trading in all my gold for chickens. I can see it now "You walk to the barkeep, what do you do?" "I slide him 20 chickens and ask him if he knows any information about the happenings in town" |
| Japangirl12-21-06, 05:55 PM | Dead chickens don't make swarms though, unless you reanimate them. Undead fiendish dire chicken swarms would be kinda nasty though . . . |
