I am a new Herald level GM and have a few questions about Home Games. The LG seems to indicate that it is permissible to run homebrew adventures or Dungeon Magazine adventures as Home LG games. However I do not understand how to create an Adventure Record for thes types of events. I also worry if my players will be able to use the characters and AR from these events in sanctioned convention and retail play. If someone could clarify how this is supposed to work I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in Advance

What you're suggesting isn't possible.

Homebrew adventures, and many published WotC/Paizo adventures can be played for RPGA reward points, but these are completely independent of Living Greyhawk characters. Living Greyhawk characters only get Adventure Records and therefore only advance by playing in Living Greyhawk adventures.

So essentially you have a choice: Play a homebrew game, possibly sometimes using published Dungeon Magazine or Wizards adventures. If you report the sessions you'll get 1 reward point for each session, which will earn you some reward cards which, frankly, are most useful if you're playing Xen'drik Expeditions and somewhat useful if you're playing Living Greyhawk, and almost useless if you're doing neither of those things. The DM will get one re-painted D&D mini for every 20 points, and an ascetate spell-effect template every reward period, which I suppose is useful.

The alternative is to play Living Greyhawk (or another campaign, such as Xen'drik Expeditions), follow the rules and run the modules for that campaign, and generate and advance official campaign PCs which can be played in any sanctioned event for that campaign.

One possible cross-over comes with Xen'drik Expeditions (and the LG high-level campaign but that's about four years away if you're just starting now!) as this has the concept of a 'DM's Mark' - a framework for a DM-written adventure to take part in the campaign world, with the information necessary to allow PCs to get rewards from it. But this system doesn't apply in the mainstream Living Greyhawk campaign.

Hope that explains things ok!
