Do such things still exist in 3.5 or does one apply Str as normal with whips/whip-daggers?

I don't want to waste time/gold trying to find out the hard way.

Thanks in advance!

Where do you see stats for a mighty whip or whip-dagger in an LG usable source?

A&EG, but access is needed. The main question is whether I add strength or not.

In 3.0 you didnt.

I just don't want to hold money waiting for an item I'll never ever see in LG 3.5.

There's a local meta-org that grants access to the whip-dagger but not mighty version.

Whips are melee weapons in 3.5. That suggests to me that you add strength to damage (and you can weild it two-handed!), unless something specifically says you don't.

The potential confusion is that a whip-dagger only appears in A&EG, but common-sense suggests that it is just a modified whip. For what it's worth (not much, I guess!) Heroforge treats it as a melee weapon for the purposes of adding strength to damage.

Whips add str as usual, although essentially everything you fight will be immune to the damage. My 6th level whip character has damaged like 1 thing ever.

That's what whip-daggers are for.
BTW: do whip-daggers threaten? I guess not, just checking...

I don't even think that whip daggers officially exist in 3.5. But no they don't threaten, they didn't threaten in 3.0 either. Even if you somehow have a whip dagger in living greyhawk you might be stuck with the fact that it DOESN'T add str damage, since the only source for the weapon I know of only added STR damage if you bought a MIGHTY version.

The real question is about Whip Daggers though. In a home campaign we've decided that my bard can add her strength bonus to the whip dagger, which seems to be the most sensible interpretation of the rules - but it is still somewhat unclear as when the book (A&EG) was published you could only do that with a 'mighty whip-dagger' as the whip and whip dagger were ranged weapons.

EDIT: Whips don't threaten so it's a safe bet that whip daggers don't either.

As for them not existing in 3.5, if that's the case why are they on the Bard proficiency list? I think that the most sensible thing is to change all whips, both whips and whip daggers to melee weapons using the whip entry in the 3.5 PH. Which means that normal whips add strength to their damage against unarmoured foes, and whip daggers add strength to all damage.

That's what the Spiked Guantlet holding the whip/whip-dagger is for ;)
