Today's FAQ has the following question and answer Does a monk’s belt (Dungeon Master’s Guide, 248) grant
a non-monk wearer his Wisdom bonus to AC?
Yes. Note, however, that the wearer gains the AC bonus
only when unarmored and unencumbered, since the belt clearly
states that “this AC bonus functions just like the monk’s AC
bonus.”

The Living Greyhawk FAQ, Errata and Rules Variants chapter of the LGCS has the contrary ruling: Q: Does the monk’s belt from the Dungeon Master’s Guide v.3.5 allow me to add my wisdom score to my armor class?
A: No. The belt grants +1 AC bonus from the monk chart in the Player’s Handbook v.3.5. It does not grant the Wisdom bonus to armor class.

I imagine that, unless something official comes from the Circle, the LGCS ruling still stands. Nevertheless, possibly something which should be clarified?

i am not sure that is a new ruling ... i think you may find the LGCS ruling is not a mistake but was specifically written to over-rule the somewhat contentious wizards FAQ on this

similiar to the LGCS ruling that rejects the new polymorph changes

either way it makes no real difference .. no non-monk class is likely to run around with no armor just to pick up a wisdom bonus to AC

Actually I would really appreciate a ruling on this. My mystic theurge really would love to have a monks belt for the +6 wisdom bonus to AC. That would bump him to:

+6 (GMA)+6(natural)+4 (shield)+3 (shield of faith)+6 (Wis) +2 (dex)=AC37 unarmoured!!!!

Actually AC38 because you also pick up the monks +1 AC for 5 levels .. get an ioun stone and you would have AC 39

ok .. point taken .. some people would find it useful

Just for clarification and in case someone missed out how your AC is derived from:

10 Base
+6 armour bonus from Greater Mage Armour
+6 Natural from being Alter Self-ed into a Troglodyte
+4 shield from Shield spell
+3 luck from a casting of Shield of Faith
+2 from Dex
+6 from Wisdom if you have the belt.
Total = 37 AC

sheild of fatith is deflection not luck

but he has no other deflection bonus so that is all good

does take you 4 rounds to get all that up, but its still pretty cool.

im a big fan (i cool people down quickly?) of gma myself, especially since that stupid material component went away.

Until there is a Circle statement on it, the LGCS ruling stands. They might say something about it in the next Dispel Confusion article.

Actually it has just struck me that a Monk's belt with the new errata ruling combined with the feat Ascetic mage would be rather amazing for sorcerors who basically have then acquired charisma to AC with a belt.

The Monk's Belt has always worked that way, and the LGCS has always (as long as I've been playing) stated that it works differently for LG. Nothing has changed.
