With the rebuild here, I want the best druid possible (mine is level 4). I plan to hang back, shoot a longbow, send my animal companion into battle, and cast summons. I prefer the versatility of range attacks to wild shaping into a tank. I feel that augment summoning is a poor way to spend two feats. I don't much like natural spell either.

Currently, I have bow feats and although my druid is a great archer, I sure wish my summons didn't take a round to get there.

But anyway, enough talkin, bring on the builds.

Wouldn't this be better on the character board?

What race is your druid? If you want to be a summoner, use the rebuild to take Spell Focus (Conjuration), Augment Summoning, and if you are human rapid spell as well. Then at 9th level (6th for human) take metamagic school focus so 3x/day you can use rapid spell for free, meaning standard action to summon. Summons are weak enough WITH augment summoning...without it they are nothing bu squishy barriers...

 so what is "metamagic school focus" exactly do??

and if it gives one free uses of metamagic feat why had "divine metamagic" had to go???

You apply it to a school of magic you have spell focus in or if you're a wizard specialist of the school. It lowers the spell level adjustment by 1 3x/day for spells of that school.

ROFL, i might take it for my bright desert "fire obsessed" wizard with "searing spell" and "energy substitution [fire]",

or i could rebuild my summoning druid: "spellfocus [conjuration]", "augment summoning", "rapid spell" and then this feat as the icing on the cake :P

but honestly, this thingy is as broken as "divine metamagic" ever was (according to the reasoning why it has been banned). i doubt it will survive the 598 LGCS ;)

The difference is it only lowers the MM cost by 1, and only 3 times per day, as opposed to getting free metamagic as many times as you have turn attempts to pay for it. Sure, metamagic school focus makes 1 level adjustment MM's free, but they are already fairly weak comparitively. Also, it's open to all casters, only applies to a single school of magic, and requires either a specialist wizard or spell focus.

only people who misused the DMM option (and hadn't their math for turning attempts right) came to really many uses of feats like empower or quicken. normally it would cost THREE feats to even get two uses for this two.

and with the "metamagic focus" what does stop a specialist evoker from taking spell focus conjuration and take it twice, once for the specialist and once for his spell focus???

gaining three empowered fireballs and three empowered orbs??? for just bumping each spell one level up :)

Well for one they are still bumping by 1 level, and 2, that eats up that many more feats.

DMM used up three feats at least (as one extra turning was almost mandatory) and wizards get free extra metamagic feats, so it isn't consuming as many percentage of the absolute number of feats as the cleric had to invest and clerics had to invest in charisma as a stat as well. so overall it is at an equal level.

Well you can't count extra turning, as it's not required to make the combo work. And also, the fact that it's only a -1 to the adjustment just lower the caster level that could apply the MM feat to a spell. In this case it lowers the level you can do it at by 2. Instead of needing a 9th level wizard to empower fireball, a 7th level wizard can. As opposed to a 1st level cleric casting a quickened spell.
