08-13-07, 10:40 PM I know that arcane casters can get non-open/non-closed spells by finding them in spellbooks, trading with other players, etc. Is it possible for druids and clerics to learn non-open/closed spells? For example, aspect of the wolf for druids.

08-13-07, 10:56 PM Players cannot trade limited spells, even if they are wizards. Druids, clerics, sorcerer and others may learn limited spells on their spell list from scrolls or spellbooks that they purchase.

Or favors that just flat out give you the spell.

08-13-07, 11:00 PM A NONC spell has to be printed on an AR for it to be legit.

You can only get Open spells from other players.

I have several accesses to druid, cleic, and such NONC stuff on my ARs. They're out there.

I've seen access too. Undulant Innards is one spell my sorcerer will get as a third level spell. Plus, I've seen scrolls and spellbooks with various NONC spells on them.

One thing to note:

IF you are playing a wizard, and there is another wizard at the table with a NONC spell in his spellbook, your wizard CAN burn a use of Read Magic each morning and prepare the NONC spell out of the other Wizard's spellbook. Granted, your character needs to make a 15 + spell level spellcraft check, but every wizard needs spellcraft, right?

But you can't copy it unless you both have access.

A nice theory, but:

Wizard Spells and Borrowed Spellbooks
A wizard can use a borrowed spellbook to prepare a spell she already knows and has recorded in her own spellbook, but preparation success is not assured. (Discussion of Spellcraft roll, etc.)

So, that NONC spell must already be in your own spellbook.

You should be able to copy a NONC spell from another wizard if you've already purchased access somewhere, but haven't already transcribed the spell from the other source. For example, maybe you purchased a scroll. If you now copy the spell from another wizard, you still have the scroll.

09-11-07, 11:47 PM See I was wondering about this too. Force Missile and Chain Missile are not open and not closed and are pretty good choices for a force-specialist, so a wizard would just have to do a few favors to get more force powers for him to wield.

A druid or cleric can gain access to NONC spells from a wizard spellbook -- if the spell is both a wizard and a druid spell.
