Howie23 05-15-07, 11:37 AM	Maybe I'm just slow..... I have a ranger with favored enemy Outsider (evil). I have thought this covered fiendish critters and half-fiends as well. Now, I'm looking at it, and this actually requires the subtype (evil), not just an outsider who's alignment is evil, huh? If I wanted favored enemy bonus against fiendish critters and half-fiends, I'd generally need Outsider (native). hurrumph. David
Samwise 05-15-07, 12:06 PM	Yep, that's the rule. No, you aren't slow, that only really clicked for me about a year ago when comparing and contrasting the phrasings for things like Bane and Holy. You affect a subtype, not an alignment with favored enemy.

Yeah, but the point is that it isn't effective against fiendish and half-fiend templated outsiders. Sure, I'll see demons, devils, etc, and get the use there, but not against the non-evil subtyped ones. David
LachlarlanIII 05-15-07, 04:25 PM	It wouldn't have mattered against fiendish creatures anyway. The fiendish template doesn't change type unless it targets an animal or vermin, and in that case the animal or vermin becomes a magical beast instead.
