Hello,

Can Permanency be permitted so PCs with the Craft Wondrous Item feat can make items like Broom of Flying & Carpet of Flying?

Thank you,
Bryan

(I do not have any arcane casters as characters.)

Restricting casting permanancy (cost xp) for in-game benefit that last between session and needs to be specifically tracked doesn't work well in a living campaign. I do agree that allowing the spell specifically and exlusively for crafting purposes would be simple enough.

this question seems to come up again and again... i seem to recall there being an official (or semi-official) ruling on it, though i do not remember the outcome. it was either that the items could not be crafted by PCs, or that the permanency prerequisite for that item was ignored.

could definitely be added to the FAQ.

I think it would be easier and less confusing to drop the Pernamency requirement from these items, so a PC can craft them.

This has been done with Pearls, in a roundabout way, lower caster level.

Also, if stat boost items dont need Permanancy cast on them why should Flying brooms and carpets?
