PHB2 Monk bonus feats.... [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-13-07, 03:06 PM Ok, so it's clear Fiery Fists can be taken as a 2nd level monk bonus feat. I'm just curious if there has ever been anything to clear up the confusion about Fiery Ki Defense and Ki Blast. They both state they can be taken as 8th level monk bonus feats, but monks don't get a bonus feat at 8th level. So can it be assumed that a monk can take Fiery Ki Defense at 6th level when a monk normally gets a bonus feat? How about Ki Blast? The difference with Ki Blast is it says the 8th level monk must have a BAB of +6, which an 8th level monk of course is going to have, and is therefore a redundant requirement (if they really meant 8th level). On the other hand, assuming they did intend it as a 6th level monk bonus feat, did they still intend the special +6 BAB requirement (Which would imply it is only intended for multi-class monks, which is odd to say the least)? Or can Ki Blast also be taken by ANY 6th level monk with the other feats in the chain?

02-19-07, 09:12 PM I would guess there's an errata coming out soon. However, as someone who plans to start a monk for the Ruins of Greyhawk series, the most logical conclusion is that a 6th level monk may pick EITHER of those feats as her bonus feats (disregarding the prerequisites entirely). That, to me, is the intention of the feats.

02-21-07, 11:39 AM I believe this may not be a forum that can give you an "official" answer. Its A D&D ruling or errata that you are seeking not an LG one, even if you intend to use it in LG.

02-21-07, 12:26 PM There was a thread I found last night on a normal D&D forum that contained answers from Customer Service on a variety of PHB2 questions. CS did confirm that Fiery Ki Defense and Ki Blast are meant to be 6th level. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Thanks. Unfortunately customer service responses don't seem to carry any weight around here, so I was hoping for some opinions from DM's on the matter too to see how much table variation one can expect before something official comes out on the matter...

02-22-07, 04:10 AM Over here in Ratik we tend to refer to the Custserv as "The Magic Eightball". However, I'll point out in its defense that it's dramatically improved over the Custserv of yesteryear.
