The removal of Alter Self and Polymorph makes the following items uncraftable by PCs. This is obviously not the most significant effect of the change, but it is worth noting:

Cloak of the bat (requires Polymorph)
Cloak of the manta ray (")
Druid's Vestment (")
Necklace of Adaptation (requires Alter self)

Hmm... Can I craft my flying carpet yet? Please?

On a more serious note, I know PCs who want necklaces of adaptation and have crafted them. I've never seen the other items, to tell you the truth. Actually, yes, I have seen the druids vestment used. Multiple times.

Druid's vestment is still craftable -- the requirement is polymorph or wild shape ability

True, but a wizard USED to be able to make one, and now he can't
