The new LGCS needs to allow gambling.

I'm talking about actual gabling (2 dragon ante, etc...) not just profession(gambler).

Also, I would like to see the proffesion/craft/slightofhand, etc... gp earned limit raised to match the lifestyle cost of the current adventure.

Example: My character pays double upkeep (nasty mod makes me pay "child support"), on an out of region 2 round mod, I spend 48gp for standard upkeep. I spend 1 extra TU to craft. rolling really well, I get about 20gp.

Let me spend another TU or more untill I earn a max = my Lifestyle cost for the mod.

Also, let me do this after ANY mod .. not just regional.

I don't think WotC/Hasbro will let the RPGA do anything that encourages gambleing in RPGA play. We have to be very morally clean because admission is open to all age groups.

Even is you doubled the amount a character could get from craft and profession 2-70 gold per TU is not significant. Now perform and sleight of hand have the potential to net a character significant gold but on average don't surpase crafting and profession until mid level where even 220 gold (max roll on perform) is not terrible significant.

You mean the same WotC that publishes Three Dragon Ante?

Yes I do. I recognize the irony, but I don't think real gambleing even with fake money (gp) is allowed under the ethical guidlines the RPGA must follow.

I completly disagree, there is NOTHING ethicly wrong with gamling. In fact is would be really cool to have a professional gabler PC, who supports his Rich lifestyle with gambling.

actually, you can only spend TUs to earn gp from non-adventuring activity after regional mods played in the character's home region.

also keep in mind that while 20gp may not seem like much to an adventuring who just spent a week crafting armor, to an the average NPC blecksmith commoner, it's been a very good week.

I requested in another thread to allow "non-adventuring activity" after ANY mod.

20gp is definitly an outstanding weeks work for a standard NPC, but I figure PCs are pullin in more gp due to their adventuring contacts, and the prestige of having a know adventurer working for you... whatever that work may be.

Just in case you were confused you do not pay any upkeep on TUs so in effect you are making 20 gp plus the cost of food, clothing, lodging etc that you go through during the TU.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa. Where is this stated? I don't recall reading anything that Perform/Craft TUs didn't require upkeep.

On this note, what about MetaOrg TU costs? Every MO has a TU cost (at least around here). I've always paid the upkeep for those. Do I get those back?

Maybe this should be a FAQ entry?

pg 51 of the LGCS v5.0 draft. Last sentence of the Intro to Benefits from Non-Adventuring Activity.

"You do not have to pay lifestyle costs for TU’s spent on using a skill to make additional gold."

It's rather unambiguous, so I don't think it needs to be clarified in the FAQ.

as for the other items, I believe meta-org TUs are paid for either by their associated gp cost (which happens in most metaorgs) or are simply absorbed by being put up at guildhalls or monasteries, and what not.

meta-orgs don't seem to be covered much in the LGCS, thus the point would probably be better handled being handed down in the regional meta-org documents...

although the FAQ entry on pg 65 regarding the extra TUs used for Mastering Foreign Spellbooks could benefit from a clarification on this point.

Yes, I realize this. I just think it should be within a characters abilities to earn enophe gp to support his lifestyle WITHOUT dipping into his adventuring funds...

You do. Every time you spend crafting, performing etc you make enough to support you lifestyle plus save a few to a couple hundred gold. That why you don't pay lifestyle cost on TUs spent for crafting. Its already included.

I just don't understand the reasoning as to why you can only craft/perform/sleight of hand after a regional adventure.

It seems like a completely arbitrary decision that makes no sense in-game, and couldn't possibly be imbalancing.

There simply aren't that many regional adventures per year, 7 or so for the regions I play in. And usually two of those are going to be fairly high level, and high level characters probably AREN'T going to be burning time units to try to earn 40 or 50 gold.

So that leaves 5 possible regional adventures per year for this sort of action, which really isn't all that much. I know it is mostly for flavor, but why even bother building up those craft/profession/sleight of hand skills (which have almost no in-game use), for a shot at earning a big 100 GP per year.
