Normally I calculated the APL by averaging the player levels and rounding to the nearest whole number (3.4 to 3, 3.5+ to 4), but after thoroughly reading it seems you would round every non-whole number up so a table that averages to 3.1 would bump up to 4. So, a table of 5 characters level 4, 4, 4, 4, and 1 would be 17/5 which would be 3.4 which would round up to 4 making them have to play 4. Is it a typo or is that how it really works?

Are you reading this off the adventure boilerplate or the LGCS? The boilerplate text is out of date on many adventures; round to the nearest whole number.
