| szwanger11-16-06, 05:28 PM | Is it legal for a character to play an adventure which levels him, then join a metaorg, then choose as his new level a class to which the metaorg gives him access? The LGCS, p. 14, says that when you gain enough XP to level, you must level that character before playing him again. So I guess the question is, does joining a metaorg count as "playing"? Steve |
| Britt11-16-06, 06:30 PM | Do you need to be the next higher level to join the metaorg? When does your region allow you to join the metaorg, at the beginning or end of an adventure? |
| szwanger11-16-06, 07:43 PM | Let's say that until that adventure, the character didn't qualify for the metaorg -- the simplest reason being that many metaorgs require playing a certain number of regional adventures or regional favors. The character needs something from the adventure, but does not need the benefit of that level to qualify for the metaorg (BAB, a certain level of spells, etc). Steve |
| Sieylianna11-16-06, 09:38 PM | I'd be inclined to say no, especially if there is a TU cost associated with it. Ed |
| Britt11-17-06, 01:59 AM | Check your regional rules on if it says you join at the beginning or end of an adventure. That will make a big difference. |
| Gwumph11-17-06, 03:56 AM | Actually I would say yes. As in you finish a mod, and it gives u access to a metaorg, i.e. join the nightwatch you join that metaorg pay the TU cost right away, and then continue down the sheet and add up your xp. After adding your xp you find you have gone up a level. At which point you do whatever you want to do with the next level of your character. point is at the end of the adventure in game time you were eligible for the meta-org. Before you finished your AR. Now if u need something from the leveling to enter the meta-org I would say no. But if need something from the Adventure than i would say yes. |

Steve i wouldn't make it more complicated than necessary. especcially when being to nitpicking with this might cause characters and players to be annoyed. and meta organisations are just this, META GAME, so taking place outside of normal gaming. so i am fine with two out of three possible ways of handling it. case 1: a character seeks access to a feature from a meta organisation. the character plays a module and accumulates enough xp to level. he joins the meta organisation with the same AR (actually sticking a mo-cert to the AR numbering it XXa or something like it, don't give them a seperate number THAT would make it complicated). now he is free to take any feature the new mo offers. case 2: a character seeks access to a certain meta orgainsation but lacks some prerequisites. the character levels during a module and with the new level choices fullfills the prerequisites for the meta org. so now he is able to join, fine with me. the only case that should not work is a combination of the above. case 3: a character needs some prerequisite FROM LEVELLING (not from things like needed to play a regional etc.) to join a certain MO and then wants to take a feature offered by that said meta organisation on the same AR. ciao martin m. |
