Quicken Spell-like ability + Caster Level Ioun stone. [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-16-07, 05:05 PM Ok, in order to take Quicken Spell-like ability for my Horizon Walker I have to be caster level 16. The caster level for the ability is equal to character level, so at 15th level with the +1 CL Ioun stone I'll be caster level 16th effectively. Does it work like stat bump items with power attack, where you can take the feat but are unable to use it if you lose the item, or am I unable to take it?

02-16-07, 05:52 PM Well, the Ioun stone just says +1 Caster Level. It doesn't specify for what purposes, like practiced spellcaster does. So the Ioun Stone does seem to give that +1 Caster Level for EVERYTHING, inluding spell-like abilities. And just like qualifying for other feats using items, if you lose the item, you can't use the feat until you DO qualify for it. Also, I have to say, the proposed trick with this is VERY stylish. Flurry of Strike with spiked chain (Hopefully while hasted), then quikened dim-door somewhere else you threaten him from and get one more attack for free.

Keep in mind that Dimension Door ends your turn, even if you Quicken it.

Yes, but the Sun SChool feat specifically lets you take a free attack when you dim door.
