| LachlarlanIII07-09-07, 08:23 PM | I don't understand something about how the Spell Rage class feature works. I understand that you can cast spells while using it, but do I have to declare whether I'm using Spell Rage or will any form of Rage work? Can I only cast 1 spell per day (or more) while raging/spell raging? Thanks. |
| KShaver07-09-07, 10:35 PM | Spell rage is its own type of rage, you do need to declare which type of rage you are using. You can cast all the spells you want while in a spell rage, within the allotted time of course. |
| LachlarlanIII07-09-07, 10:47 PM | Would Extra Rage apply to spell rage? |
| Arcane Guyver07-10-07, 12:45 AM | I think you apply that feat to either regular Rage or Spell Rage. |
| Banor07-10-07, 07:54 AM | I think you apply that feat to either regular Rage or Spell Rage. Yea that seem like the Extra Smite problem. |
| Arcane Guyver07-10-07, 10:40 AM | Yea that seem like the Extra Smite problem. I honestly don't think it's that bad. One feat with minimal prereqs granting 3 extra Rages per day is pretty potent; that same feat granting 6 (or more, if you have more than 2 types of rage at your disposal) is way too good. Extra Smite, on the other hand, has much more stringent requirements and isn't nearly as impressive (two more melee attacks per day are extra-nice). |
| Banor07-10-07, 07:13 PM | Yea well what i meant is that those two feats are worded pretty much the same way. I'd say 2 floating rages imo |

It isn't so bad as a one level dip if you want to build a Barbarian Gish, but that's only if Extra Rage can be used on spell rage. |
| Arcane Guyver07-11-07, 12:28 PM | Rage Mage would be a fun prestige class if it didn't suck. I played one once, and it was fun. The key is to make sure to learn big blasty spells that have a dramatic difference with higher caster level (like more rays with scorching ray or more d6's with fireball). Some combats you'll spell rage, others you'll rage normally, all depending on the type of enemies you run into. |

My 12th level PC has two levels of Rage Mage. He's fun. But I won't argue that it's suboptimal. It is nice to cast spells in a rage though. :AMN: |
