Now that I know this is Open Access, I'm considering taking Rapid Metamagic on my sorcerer at 9. If it worked with quicken, I'd take quicken at 12. The description of Rapid Metamagic states that it allows a caster to cast the spell at its normal casting time. The question is, is the normal casting time of a quickened spell a swift action? Does the Special Note under quicken indicate that it doesn't work at all for spontaneous spells, or is it simply a clarifier noting that these arcane casters will be unable to make effective use of it?

Britt, if you're reading this, I think it would make an excellent dispel confusion question ;)

Yes, it works with Quicken. Look at the Sorcerer alternative class feature in PH2 for more detail.
