What happens when a Centaur is reincarnated?

Are they reincarnated as a random monstrous humanoid?

Do they always come back as a centaur?

Do they use the phb/lgcs chart? If so, what happens to their racial levels?

Until the Circle produces an official reincarnate table for monstrous humanoids, they cannot be a target of that spell. Only humanoids can, as per the fact that only they have a table available (in the PHB).

I would like to suggest that this then be noted on page 49, as an additional bullet point, such as:

Reincarnate may not be cast on centaur characters or cohorts.

Or even the more simple:

Reincarnate may not be cast on non-humanoid creatures (such as centaurs).

I would humbly request you never create such a chart. Centaurs are complicated enough as it is and last thing LG needs is inclusion of more strange MM races into the game. I for one don't want to juggle a game with already overpowered centaurs being accompanied by other monstrous humanoids.

Thank you.

While not large, there are a sizeable number of 'unusual' PCs and cohorts in the game. It would be relatively simple to accomodate those by simply adding something like "If an exotic character race (defined as one other than elf, dwarf, gnome, half-elf, half-orc, halfling or human) is reincarnated, use the table as presented, except that the player may choose to be reincarnated as a member of his current race instead of [insert whatever here, depending on how rare you want to make such reincarnations compared to other PCs]."

Most exotic characters (and exotic cohorts, or animal companions, etc.) are one-time only access, and it's a shame to limit their revival options just because of that.
